I am not at all surprised to see this news in the back racks. In fact I had to dug into the sport news section to find out ......hahahaha
dont worry rediff ,you are in fact become the most communal website of this country.Sania is a biggest looser ....she think she is some great star who plays for country or for its pride...but this is not the case...you all play for money....all cricketers ,golfers and tennis players.....the real athletes are in Athletics who always go unherd ...

she should be playing in inida or around only

She has best chance of wining is in India..where she dont wants to play as Prize money is small. In abroad, she mostly loses... although sometimes she surprises. I feels she should be playing in India and some local Asian championship only... Here she have atleast a chance of wining the championship..wht u say guys?

do you know what all has happened to her in india. better go and read all those things also.I'm not a big fan of Sania. But this is a fact that she is highest ranked, skilled, recognized indian women tennis player till date.

She is okay but certainly not the best in Asia
by TongInChic on Feb 28, 2008 08:56 AM  | Hide replies

She is not the best in Asia - there is Li Na and some others in China who are better and have higher seeding to match.

There are also some Japanese players - some aging, some new who are already higher ranked than Sania. I think there is a Thai player above her also, but I could be mistaken.

There's no denying that Sania is good, she needs to be fitter than she is and definitely requires a mental coach - she loses not because she lacks skills but because she is not mentally tough enough..

That's my opinion any way. If you observe her closely during a tough game - whether singles or doubles, you can exactly point out the precise moment she gives up. You can see it in her eyes and a few seconds later, you can see it in her body language and then strokes.

mentality toughness is a long time issue for our Indian players, whenever we flight with other country's players, we always lost the close games.

Rediff needs to invest in a Thesaurus...or better writers
by TongInChic on Feb 28, 2008 08:44 AM  | Hide replies

Every time I see the headlines of the sports writing in Rediff, I have this deja vu feeling - have I read this before? Have I gotten into an old edition of rediff?

Sania loses often in the second round when she comes up against a classier player - in this case, it is really no shame to lose to Jankovic...the fight was good and the opposition was really good.

But it is certainly a shame that Rediff cannot come up with more creative writing. We need consistency in other places, not in the written word using cliches and recycled writing. Rediff needs to invest a princely sum of 20 to 50 rupees in a Thesaurus, if they do not know how to use the on-line version.

Rediff titles particularly on the sports side are uniformly, awfully boring, clueless and often misleading.

What's new?

Sania crashing out is such an old news. This news should be defaulted. As this happens with all her tournaments. Now tell me Sania, which controversy made you lose this? Or is it some ankle or joint pain?
