Anand's feat is phenomenal. He is a real sport as well as a true gentleman. I read his exploits with happiness, but mostly with a tinge of sadness. Chess is mostly an individual sport and fails to excite most. The Russians are masters in this cerebral exercise. In this fast paced modern world, where people look for instant gratification, it fails to excite practically anybody.
The postings seem to be mostly out of a guilty feeling for ignoring an unsung hero. If it can fire some of us to pursue our passions, despite the hurdles stacked against them by modern day pace of life for material yearnings, the society will be the gainer. Each of us can try to get out of the herd mentality to pursue the inner talents. Easier said than done! We are all slaves to the environment surrounding us and the unforgiving society. We live for others and wander aimlessly from pillar to post, mostly unappreciated. It is reflected in most of the postings, getting the bile & vile out of our accumulated frustrations.
Anand, I just do not know how to acclaim your success. Let me try - YOU ARE ONE IN A BILLION!

Anand is a Brahmin. Karunanidhi hates Brahmins. Please draw your own conculsion.
our over-paid, over-rated cricketers should bow down to Anand. he is the undisputed sporting hero of India....here is a man who is quietly efficient and plays like a true champion.

If it were Sania in fourth round win of ATP, this article would have been with at least 4 photos and a link for more photos.....
He is perhaps one of the few Indian players, who is consistintly retaining top spot in his field for so many years.

Well done Vishwanath Anand, Keep it up. You have made our Country proud. I doubt whether any other chess player can ever match his skills, quality and calibre. He is the undisputed "Grand Master" for us. People need to take such examples as role models, since he does'nt talk loud like the arrogant Aussies, and is very humble, but plays his game professionally and in a gentlemanly way.
