waah! look who is talking!
by Kiran PATEL on Sep 06, 2008 11:10 PM

Dear Mr Abhinav, you made us all very proud by having won the Gold, but this statement of urs is out of frustration or to attract more media attention and in-effect more attention from Govt of INDIA so that you can be awarded with more benefits!!! About media, even if you are going for a nature's call they will follow you and will make it a "BREAKING NEWS", so you dont bother about the media attention, about the Govt. of INDIA, they will surely one day nominate you for Rajya Sabha seat, after all The President herself has congratulated you personally apart from The PM, so you are bound to climb the ladder high anyhow. Now there is a question for you from citizen of INDIA, what are you gonna contribute for the improvement of the performance of Indian delegates in next and coming Olympics? Are you too gonna be a crying sheep all the time or gonna do something for this nation in the field of Sports????

Olympic Games Vs Paraolympic Games
by peetanshu mohan baranwal on Sep 03, 2008 02:28 PM

Dear Sir, India has been doing fairly well in Paralympics to the extent of winning an individual Gold and A Bronze in Athense 2004. Expected to do better in Beijing between 6 Sep to !7 Sep. With so much hype in Beijing and other countries For Paraympics how come no one in India knows about it or cares about it. It is for all of us to promote these sports. May be Media persons may like to give proper coverage for same.

Naturally.Only the lazy game cricket(played only by 12 countries and hence least competitive)can thrive in India.

Sports can grow only if governing bodies have representation from sportsperson
by pradeep agarwal on Aug 28, 2008 04:17 PM  | Hide replies

It is for everyone to see that Sushil got his medal from Bubka who heads the Olympic association of Georgia.Have we ever heard of Dhyanchand even heading selection body of hockey. It was an IPS Aswini Kumar who ruined the game for donkey years & Than another dictator IPS Gill who finally lit the pyre of hockey in this country.Bindra made it because he left the country & trained in Germany or else this system would have sucked him.He has the courage to snub politicians & IOA officials after winning the medal by simply ignoring them as he ows nothing to them for his success. We need Amritraj,Padukone,Vishwanathan Aanad of the world to run the sports bodies & not Kalmadi's or Gills who are simly sucking the system for their personal gains

Very well said. As one of the members onf india4olympics d o t c o m has said the power should be given in the hands of a sports person and not to the politians for sports.

Please voice your opinions like these in India4olympics

This country needs to take some very basic adjustment to its constitution and law

1. Dont allow a criminal or even a person who has corruption charges against him to stand in election
2. Dont allow a single Politician to hold any position in sport

Ruining
by bravestar on Aug 28, 2008 01:01 PM  | Hide replies

Common replies for not winning medals or not competing in other sports
1) Our body is not build in that way
2) There is no grass land where we can compete for football, etc
3) We dont like getting touched by opponet that is why we are not playing football etc
4) We are short so we cannot compete in football and basket ball.
4) The biggest we are not capable.

I say all these things are wrong. My answeres.

1) Body build. Sorry to say that but chinese are also small in heiht but there are competing in each and every sport and wining and creating records in all the field. The brown skin was able to create record in 110m husdles.

2) Most of the african nations dont have fiend to practice but win medals and games

3) Hundreds are sport are there but we are lazy. The laziest country is India. We cannot change or it is difficult to arose self-esteem amoong Indians. Mentallity has been corrupted from past 1000 years. Can do any thing.

4) Maradona was short. U see the vollyball every team had at least 4-5 ppl short less that 5 and 1/2 feet. Are we not 5 and 1/2 feet.

5)We are capable. I was surprised to see 7 turbine in Canada squad in olympics. We are good at shooting, Weight lifting, Rowings (get ppl from kerala), Wrestling (get ppl from kabbadi and kushti).

India desperatly Needs good luck. It is deviod of good luck from past 1200 years.

Pessimism, first we find faults and then try to give explanations. Pardon me, but instead of finding faults what have we done about it. We all can preach but who is going to teach !!

As if you know what you are preaching? Why are we suffering from colonial hangover even after 60 years of independence? Language is a unifying force & not something to boast of.

India's hectic education system can never encourage children in games. There is no time to play. Just read and read all the unnecessary stuff.

Abhinav's words of wisdom
by hiral joshi on Aug 28, 2008 12:17 PM  | Hide replies

He is showing great maturity. These medal winners have exposed IOA and its corrupt officials. I dont know why we cant see beyond politicians in the sports bodies? Why this moron Kalmadi should be IOA president for life-long? Congress is imposing its dynastic sycophancy in sports too. IOA has conviniently sidelined the partiality crime done to Monika Devi. A young girl's career is ruined how come genuine people will come forward for sports? I find the feat of Abhinav et al even bigger in a sense that they exposed the beaurocrisy and political interference in sports.

For ur reference there are SAI fields in all major Cities. If u have jest go and join it hardly cost 5k for life long membership. You need to break this current system in order to win medals and abhinav, Vij, and Sush have done that. All three have given a good slap on the system and the politicians.
