India has improved a lot, its rank is 50 in olympics!!!
by Vivek. on Aug 27, 2008 06:49 AM  | Hide replies

~ 1.2 Billion people in this country only 1 Gold medal, total of 3 medals. Waste!!!

Check South Korea, a small country which is equal to one of our small states in our country.

It has 13Golds, with a total of 31 medals. That is called allround development.

Our political Leaders are just eating the money even in parliament.

How can our country improve in this condition.

We are completely dependent on US/UK.

Suppose there is no US, then it is obvious no India.

South Korea is a semi-conductor manufacturing hub as well, which has Samsung, LG ... as leading global players.

India has all service based companies.

If India has to improve with its 1.2billion people, first is it has to think independently.

We can take only China as example here, because it has 1.3 billion people and good landmass.

US has around 400million population with a huge landmass, so no wonder it is developed.

China is developing that is something great and we have to follow its footprints rather than being slaves back to European origins.

Don't be sarcastic writing your comments. Please be practical, tell me how many times you consider sports as a serious profession in your life. Now time has changed and people start thinking sports as a profession. This is not started by government this is started with the upbringing of indian society.

That's not a bad idea, actually..if they fund it out of the money they received generously from the nation. Anything that prevents the spread of the disease called cricket is a good thing.

Why? TN CM has no time to fulfill whims and wishes of any tom and jerry? Already Tamilnadu CM has announced gift to Bindra in recognizing his victory for our country.Again he will do more to efforts to imporve sports in Tamil nadu.

Games
by raja raja on Aug 26, 2008 12:59 PM

I think the change should come from us.Many of us will love false rather than truth.
Example we like hero who will fight with 100 members in a movie rather than a person who can win 100 meters running race.
At least ourself try to play some outdoor games
rather than watching cricket and eating pizzas.

Mr. Suresh Kalmadi want to be continue as President of Olympic association ?????? Why
by Vinu Nehru on Aug 26, 2008 12:45 PM  | Hide replies

What do u all think ? Is it great achivement for Mr. Kalmadi? coz India win 3 medal. Bull Sheet .......110 crores populations country and only 3 Medals. I congrutulate them who wom the medal for country.

Mr. Kalmadi want to be continue to oppose Mr. Sharad Pawar who is BCCI president. Can Mr. Kalmadi answer my some questions .

1) How many swimming pools in Mumbai and Pune City which is build and maintained by local corporation body and how many of them functional.

2) what is the use of the Wane wadi , Pune Sports complex and who is using that. Not in Maharashtra only, but all over India almost all states having their sports complex but they used for political party meetings or hi profile familys or politicians relatives wedding or parties or some functions.

3) Why national Games not conduct every year.

4) Stop to give importants to Cricket game which is played by very few countries and appeal to sponsors for give their support and sponsorship to other games.

5) I request Mr. Ambani, Mr. Mallya, Mr. Sharukh Khan and Preety Zinta to sponsor other Games which will give our country recognition on International levels like in Olympic , world championship, commonwelth or Asian Games. But I am sure they will not do so, Coz they want returns from their investment. They are not interested in Cricket game but interested in fame and money getting from Cricket. Have u all seen TAMASHA or GREAT ENTERMAIN in IPL 20-20,almost 2400 crore turnover. How can other game will

Where are the pics???
I think rediff isnt interested to show us pics of real heroes.
chalo News diya wohi badi bat hai.
They are more interested in film stars and movie promotion. Unke pic post karne se unko commission milta hai. Lekin real sports hero ke liye time nahi hai

All said and done, in Sydney Olympics in 2000, Ms Karnam Malleswari won the bronze thus winning an individual medal after 1952 Helsinki games. She was the one who has started the medal run. In the next olympics, Rathore won silver, and now Bindra gold; How ever now it appears no one is remembering her; she also deserves equal accolades. Hats off to Ms Malleswari.

u r wrong. the draught was ended by Leander Paes in 1996 and u have forgotten him so easily. How do u blame others for forgetting Malleswari? Lets stop cherishing the miniscule aceivements of past and look forward so that we can win more medals. If china can win 100 medals why should we be satisfied with just 3? India is a country of 1.1 billion people. proportionally it should win at least 30 medals in olympics. Money is no excuse. If poorest of african nations can do better than india, I think problem is somewhere else.
