Mighty India, Pakistan, Korea, Malaysia, China and Japan can play better hockey than what they have been doing of late. They need to come up with better solutions to counter their opponents from the other continents. Sticking to Asian style, improving fitness levels and having regular matches against quality oppossitions can certainly raise the morale of our players. Our State and National Hockey Associations need to do much more to nurture the raw talent that emerges in our schools, colleges and in our hockey playing villages in Punjab, Haryana, UP, MP, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Uttaranchal and in other hockey playing Indian States.
Our esteemed psec government should immediately mandate a minimum of 60% reservation in the national team, with at least three seats for "minorities" and one for women. That is the only way forward.
I wish India could be in the place of atleast Netherlands, i feel dejected not to see indian hockey in this olympics, even though they come 7 or 8th. Its a shame. Is something being done for the Indian hockey or its the same old story. Asian hockey is at its least, even pakis, once were really talented are not able to match the super powers of aus & europe. Asian hockey needs to revamp and combine strongly to beat the west.

simply wishing is not enough . there is need to play hockey at school level. have astro turf in each college where students are keen to play . provide good coaches. it is all a pipe dream , it will never happen in land of crazy cricket lovers.
