In 100m dash, you have to start of the block and pick up some speed so it takes time. In this the first person takes of the block and others exchange baton at relatively higher speed. Moreover, there is advantage in curves as opposed to straight line sprinting.

We need some training
by param on Aug 23, 2008 10:26 AM

Usain Bolt he is so wonderful when he cross the opponents i am seeing specially Beijing athletics. You see in this relay it was usain bolt who took lead for powell and than powell make it more impressive ,carter and frater was good and carter did the good starting. My favourite athletics evant was 100,200 and relay 4X100 and i seen so good guys on track but now some of them are in railway and some with MRF and some gone broad when i see them so bulky i wonder what they look like wrestler ,we all complained about facility in INDIA yes we do not get facility and everyone is not like Bindra who can spend so much money ,i feel minister should not be entertained in SPORTS if we want to improve our sports skills.I m strongly believer if we get good facility and good training we can give good results too.

Yes........absolutely true. The way he ran 100,200,4x100 events is amazing and no words for praising. Jamaicans fully dominated the events and now were US could compete with them. I am a sports lover and I would like to see india gets gold medal in these 3 events before I die

US introspection
by Shyama Sreenath on Aug 23, 2008 09:33 AM

One outcome of this Olympics will be an US introspection for falling well below its expected levels of performance. How they go about and the future planning Indians can emulate-provided of course Karat &Co allow. This will increase our tally and all round performance a little bit further. But a medal in Athletics will be a distant dream because we do not have the energy and exuberance of the Jamaicans who are physically strong and tough. They also do not have Kalmadis and Gills managing the affairs.
