During his press conference , Bolt has revealed that his idol in cricket is none other than our Sachin. He also likes the fast scoring style of Chris Gayle and Mathew Hayden.

Obviously he should love cricket being a West Indian. Bolt with such a powerful running could have become a terrific fast bowler from Jamaica to represent West Indies team had he tried cricket. He would have been a deadly FAST BOWLER with such amazing running skill 1000 times better than the current crop of medium pacers they have.
But thank GOD he stuck to Olympic sport of running and brought greater GLORY to tiny Jamaica ...and helped it win 2 of the 4 Golds in this Olympics :-)

He originally was a fast bowler. In high school, his cricket coach noticed his speed and urged him to switch to sprinting. Smart decision has paved the way to spectacular glory for him.
Swedish wrestler Ara Abrahamian threw down his greco-roman bronze medal in protest after his bid for Olympic gold was ended by a decision denounced by the Swedish coach as “politics.”
Abrahamian angrily took the bronze from around his neck during the medal ceremony, stepped from the podium, threw it in the middle of the wrestling mat & walked off.
IOC felt Abrahamian’s actions amounted to a sort of political demonstration & disrespect to his fellow athletes. So they stripped him of his bronze.
“I don’t care about this medal. I wanted to take gold, so I consider this Olympics a failure,” Abrahamian said. “This will be my last match". He decided to even quit the sport.
Abrahamian had to be restrained by teammates earlier when a row erupted with judges over the decision in semifinal bout with Minguzzi of Italy, who went on to take gold. Less than 1 hour before the fight for bronze was due to start, Abrahamian's coach Leo Myll? was involved in a heated argument with the judges whom he accused of corruption.
According to Abrahamian's coach Myll?, the verdict was unjust. The argument escalated to the point where both Abrahamian & coach Myll? even threatened to boycott the bronze match and not participate.
The wrestler said his friends “called me just 20 minutes before the (bronze) competition, begging me to compete.” Thats why having coming so far he wrestled for them.

In which games, the next Olypic is in London in 2012. So 2009/2010. does not make any sense to me. Please enlighten me.
The dethroning of US hegemony in Athletics is a welcome change. Sports lovers always like to watch new challengers to the throne, be it football, hockey or Cricket. That is good for the game also.
well done for 3 medals in this olympics. but ind's chances of fourth medal at olympics is lost by the SAI and IOA to be blamed together when they removed the name of monika devi of manipur, from the list of weightlifters on board the plane to beijing.

Huha:
There are zillion articles a day which appear and disappear on Rediff....
You know you can't splash all articles on the main page always....
You may well ask where is the article on Abhinav Bindra's shooting gold, or the article on UPA's alleged victory in confidence vote, or the article on Karnataka elections, or the article on Usain Bolt's 100 m world record...
"The head of the International Olympic Committee has questioned the Jamaican's sportsmanship,"
was actually meant to say: "The head of the International Olympic Committee has forgotten the definition of sportsmanship,"
sportsmen are not supposed to drown in "respect" and slavery to the "lofty ideals" Although the Olympics is greater than a single athlete, clearly, Bolt was simply happy at his performance - AFAIK, he has run 100m finals only five times in his life so far.
Bolt was justifiably happy - he was winning an Olympic Gold for his country on his very first 100m finals
If he were not complacent and playful, he would actually have tried 9.5 seconds, would he not.
Man, the guy is a deserving king. Dont spoil his happy moments. That is true sportsmanship.
But high officials cannot be expected to udnerstand human-ness can they?

agree, where was this same rogge in last olypics when gatlin win his 100 meters and start shouting running all over the field and aout phelps when the leezsck won the relay the way phelps show his happy by screeming and beating his chest.... These socalled presidents cant talk country again like America or china and bashing the talented like Bolt, he deserve to be happy and he did exactly what the world fastest with the rocord holder do.... and another way that is the way a common jamaican guy will show his happiness by beating his chest to the crowd and the world like it .
i dont understnad what mr.Rogges problem is, he might be feeling bad that USA doesn't win...
