sporting standards in india
by swaroop tagore on Aug 20, 2008 10:49 AM  | Hide replies

we are a crazy lot and are never focussed in games/sports there is no point in sending teams to the olympics to get beaten hands down . first the government of india must chalk out a plan to train our athletes for olymics.we need to prepare for 7 years atleast to bring in proper world standards we are lagging behind by 7-10 yrs by world standards we have to create a proper nucleus first and then participate for results china planned from the 1996 olympics in a span of 8 years they are world leaders. if indian hockey team did not qualify for olympics please think of the playing surfaces available in india the ignomious part is in india we dont have proper hockey pitches no state government is really concerned about the various requirements games/sports must feature under the central subject for a planned focus and desired results if bindra abinav won a medal its because he is a rich boy he had his own shooting range his dad got him a gun woth 2 crores how many of the talented sports persons can self finanace their specialized sport?we need not feel proud of bindras medal did we bother about him before?today he has become the talk of the country please realise that it was bindra and his inner soul who are responsible for his victory his parents are like gods the politicians of india shud clean their shoes and learn much from them after he wins so many crores are announced. anju bobby george was given 89 lacs from tamil nadu tax payers kitty today with three foul jumps she remai

Another waste of tax payers money
by ganesh shyam on Aug 20, 2008 10:33 AM  | Hide replies

Shud have a regulatory body(not govt) to restrict our participation in Olympics based on performance level....Sending them for sight seeing on our money is not fair & unacceptable...shame

I like ur comment. More Indians should feel it, not just saying "well done u tried ur level best". Because anyone can give a try, even u and me. Its INNOCENT PEOPLE'S MONEY. Kick the selectors out.

if that be the logic of sending players by every country, only about 700 will participate in all.olympics will become a nonevent.
