there was 50m dash, 50m left leg hop, 50m right leg hop, 50m backwards dash, 50m hurdles, 100m left leg hop, 100m right leg hop, 100m backwards dash, 200m left leg hop, 200m right leg hop, 200m backwards dash, 200m hurdles, 400m individual medley (100m hurdles 100m right leg hop 100m left leg hop 100m dash), then Carl Lewis would be greatest ever...

If there was 10m standing rifle, sitting rifle, sleeping rifle, 20m standing rifle, sitting rifle, sleeping rifle, 30m standing rifle, sitting rifle, sleeping rifle, 40m standing rifle, sitting rifle, sleeping rifle, 50m standing rifle, sitting rifle, sleeping rifle, then Bindra would be the greatest.

Swimmers and gymnasts have an unfair advantage.

Indians Can Do IT
by Guest on Aug 16, 2008 02:11 PM

The countries who nurture the players by spending millions of dollers into their training tops the medal list, where as in India the people who can afford investing money into their personal training(which is in crorers) can win medals, like Abhinav Brindra who spent crores of rupees into his personal triaining, if our goverment can not spend money in training of our players then our business houses like Anil Ambanis have to come FWD and sponsor the training cost, say may be 10 players who are not with less I.Q. India has got talent but due to lack of proper training we are not good performer,Indians tops In medical field in US Britan Indians tops Software Programming our people are good in accounts, this everything requires less of money behind training but wining medals at olympics requires huge amount behind training, we should not demoralise the players insted we should think of giving them proper training.

Hearty congrats to Phelps. Hats off to China which was determined to become the No 1 this time and seemed to have achieved it if nothing dramatic doesn't happen.

As an Indian I can only wish we will ever learn from the US or at least from China. Are the commies of Indian seeing what China is doing?

With a billion population, we can produce only st-upid politicans and nothing else. Our heores are Lallos, mulayam , mayawatis and frankly considering that we have the lowest per capita IQ in the world coupled with pigeon bodices, we ain't deserve anything better. So Let us marvel at Phelps and their system.

ALL MEDALS FOR INDIA - A FLUKE AND by chance
by Sudipta Bhowmik on Aug 16, 2008 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

In India we admire mediocrity....a terminal disease. we are happy with 1 rare gold which we had to wait till 2008 since the start of Olympics. you ask Abhinav Bindra to replicate this gold in the Asian Games next.....HE WONT BE ABLE TO DO IT....bcos he himself doesnot know "HOW HE WON THE GOLD!!!!!!" Its strange but fact !! Just bcos he doesnot know this, he wont be able to win it again in his lifetime.

Thats even the same case with the Indians across. Except Vishy, our chess genius.

1. milkha singh....so close...but he could not produce another athlete who could win the medal.
2. P T Usha....so close...but could she coach another athlete who can produce the result? NO.
3. Rajyabhardhan....or whatever his name is ....got a silver last olympics.....could he get a Silver or Gold this olympics........BCOS HE STILL DOES NOT KNOW OR HAS NOT ANALYZED IN THE LAST 4 YRS - HOW HE COULD GENERATE THAT RESULT.......he only basked in mediocre performance, unwanted glory and endorsements.

and what he says after the disqualification to reach the final stage...(shame shame)..."I worked hard for the last four years but things just did not go my way.I have not been in the best of form of late but I......" all nonsense....as we Indians only "work hard" like a DONKEY...but never technically, no reflection, no analysis, no thinking. Its not bcos of Politics....politics is not bad.....what is bad is OUR TASTE OF MEDIOCRE PERFORMANCE....WE FEEL PROUD WITH A BRONZE !!!!

All that India cares about is cricket. What is a bigger concern is our continuous mediocre performance's in it as well If T-20 ever becomes part of Olympics, India might win a few medals initially but would eventually be wiped out, very much in the way that happened to our hockey

Unfair to other sports persons at Olympic
by padman on Aug 16, 2008 11:14 AM  | Hide replies

too many gold medals for swimmers, which i find unnecessary at Olympic. Hokey, basketball, other team event put same effort to get one final gold. 5 gold medal for men relay and 5 gold medal for woman. If one swimmer is top of all, there is always chance to win most of them medal. That what happen here. What he is done is great achievement, I can't deny that. He must have worked hard in life to reach this level. Also, if one country good at swimming, there is always chance to win more medal. It is unfair to other sports except gymnastic

Hey Padman,

If is it so easy to win a gold in swimming why our Indians can not win. Shooting also have lot of competitions. One can not give 2 gold medals for a hockey competition. In cricket one can think of that with oney-day, 20-20 or test, but since it is timetaking game and less accepted globally, olympic associations are not considered it for olympics. Anyway Phelps performance is superb. US has won 14 golds and 50% is his share.
