You said Mushriks means enemies of Mecca aka Religious shrine and center of Muslims. The holy war wrought in the name of Religion. Whereas in Bhagavad Gita, the war took place between good and bad. You should remember that both sides of the war in Mahabharata belong to same religion. You comparison here is irrelevant. You cannot justify your intolerance towards other religions by quoting other religious texts out of context.

You should send your query to Mr. Arun Shourie directly or talk to him. You cannot get answer from Arun Shourie in this forum.

Phelps does it after 20 years
by S Shrikanth on Aug 15, 2008 11:36 AM

Phelps has won 6 golds in a sigle summer Olympics. He has equalled Kristin Otto, the mermaid, of GDR who won 6 Golds in 1988 summer games.

US Speed Skater Eric Heiden still holds the highest number of Golds in Olymics. He won 8 Gold medals in 1980 Winter games in Lake placid.

Christa Rothengerber won 5 Gold medals in 1984 Winter games in Sarajevo. She later went on to win 10000 meter Cycling Gold in 1988 summer games in Seoul.Another unique accomplishment

Phleps, Carl Lewis, Owens, Spitz, Otto and Rothengerger are all time great Olympic champions of modern era.

The world salutes them.

Need for better coach in India
by v reddy on Aug 15, 2008 11:30 AM

I wonder why Indian Olympic assosciation doesnt invest in getting coach from competetive countries. They should have a look at the brighter side of our aspiring atheletes, they should get the funds from the govt and media promosing them with contracts.Eventhough china reigns in the gold medal list, most of the sports like fencing, volley ball, basket ball etc etc are getting trained under able hands.
Well ,personally i have made up my mind to go & watch more sports played by India to help them get some funds and encourage stiff competetion

freak Nature
by ramabhadranS on Aug 15, 2008 11:27 AM  | Hide replies

Phelps is a natures gift. His torso is big for a human and his legs are smaller for the frame. That makes him more or like a fish!! naturally he finds water is more convenient than land. He has converted the natures gift into a 'golden' opportunity. There may be similar cases in India but the set up of our country does not allow them to rise up. pathetic! He is a freak champion like Sri lanka's Murli.

My friend ,Where there is a will, there is a way.Ethopia, serbia atheletes get more medals than Indians eventhough there govt dont support not even like India.Well there is a greater need for us to support our kids to take up our kids professionally and as their life.In India most kids take up sports as their hobby and not as passion, there is the difference .Last but not least we should take up initiatives to play differenct games other than cricket which was given by colonial rulers to spend their spare time.

Rightly said. Agreed 100%.Sports is only a hobby in India.A good sportsman in College level gives up after getting a good job and steady monthly income and lives comfortably. Then good bye to Sports. We are good for SAF games, Commonwealth Games and to a certain extent Asian Games. We will never achieve glory. Sorry to write this message on Independence Day, but it is THE bitter truth.
