Thats one word i could think of from this whole case.For some1 coming from the remote far flung place like Manipur;a place which doesn`t have much influence in the Dirty pOLITICS OF of the country;

Discrimination, thats what we have been take on our face everyday,from the so called True Indians.(we are second grade indians as far as u all are conserned)

We are proud people , and we have been regularly producing prominent sport persons,and continue to do so, in most fields Football, hockey,Athletics;weightLifting name it PPL we are always there sweating it out trying to give u pride in front of the whole world;;;

Despite all the difficulties we face financially, social-political statuo we are always there with our RAW TALENT.. a little help is all we need for us to reach the next level.. but INSTEAD THERE U ARE DRAGGING US DOWN TRYING TO BURY US..

Shocking Politics In Sports
by chacko jacob v on Aug 14, 2008 11:51 AM

The politicking in sports in India SHOCKS me.The case simply is that someone else who is politically favored had to have an opportunity attend & so someone had to be denied an opportunity and made a scapegoat. The best option for a scapegoat was a weight lifter as they are any way under the cloud of doping so the only weight lifter got the RAP.

I "pray" for the sake of Indian Sports that the culprits are duly punished.

Two to tango!

What surprises me is the Ex-Chief Election Commissioner, asks his successor to inquire into this incident. There is no doubt that dubious test story was to prevent Monika Devi from competing in Olympics and in her place someone else was picked to represent another sport even if it was not for weightlifting.

Absolutely - This is one of the most shocking case of sabotage of someone's chances of competing in the Olympics, perhaps winning a medal, ruining her reputation and career either due to ineffeciency or sabotage, which is more likely the case. Persons responsible should be treated as terrorists as they have terrorised an innocent girl's career and reputation!
Selecting a former CEC who has a reputation of being strict and correct is alright as the current SAI authorities are perhaps part of the problem and cannot be expected to do much in finding out the truth!
I would have preferred a retired Judge or someone with impeccable reputation with a criminal investigation or judicial background to probe the case

Unfair

I doubt the guilty wil be punished. Scape goats will be greated ans the issue will be hushed.
Although Im not from the East, there has been a lot of discrimination against them socially in our own country. Most of them are called chinkis or chinese, despite them being a prt of our country.
The Eastern states, Punjab, and Kerala, produce most of the Indian Olympic Contingent, and we must respect them for it.

Secondly we have an olympic gold now. Significant measures taken by the IOC, now can really give a flip to the current scenario and we can expect more medals if atmposphere is conducive to development and nurturing of talent.

Please punish the culprits, and reach the root cause, there is no point in penalizing just the lab technicians who gave the report. We also to penalize the person who paid to create this false report , and played with an olympians career.

Although no amount can recompansate her losses, Monika and Manipur must sue the IOA for more a huge sum. Atleast that can take care of her future life and incase she needs to participate in wightliftin events in the future, she does not need to depend on these corrupt Associations for her funds.
