Wait for Chettri performance abroad against stronger teams!
by sandeep kumar on Aug 14, 2008 01:25 PM  | Hide replies

People are praising overtime chetri, while his goals are against krgystan, tajistan etc. Some are even suggesting he shud play EPL. Man, note the following:
1. Europe demands consistency against FIFA ranked nations of 50 and higher not 130 ranking teams
2. Fitness is top notch
3. Ishant sharma took woickets in ranji, but he went to australia and took wickets. Thats a REAL HERO
4. Sreesanth bowled India to victory at wanderers, against top qulity SA team. ANother hero
5. Bhajji 32 wkts against wrlds best aussies

See the point is only consistent performances abroad against class, will show u as a real hero. Let chettri now start atleast against korea japan etc before europe.

Forget cricket : there are not more than 7 countries
who play serious cricket at any point of time. There is only one consistent team Australia - and even they dont feel a high as they know that there are just 6 rivals and 6 weak ones at that.

Football is a lifetime pursuit starting at the age of 5 - not like stupid cricket where university graduates who start playing gets selected to national teams.

Physique is not all in soccer - if so brazil or argentina would have never one a world cup.

Important : Stop displaying your ignorance so unabashedly

Ban Cricket for 5 years
by Juan Rosario Malvino DeCunha on Aug 14, 2008 12:53 PM  | Hide replies

I am demanding Indian Govt to ban cricket for at least 5 years.

If GoI cannot fully ban Cricket, at least ban Test Cricket, Four-Days, Three-Days, and One Day Cricket. We only need shorter version of Twenty 20.

Instead, we should save that energy and resources for the sports like Football, Hockey, Athletics, Swimming, Archery, Shooting, Wrestling, Boxing, Water Sports, etc. This will help us to gain more Olympics medals.

Govt should impose fine on medias who are giving coverage for cricket for more than 10 minutes.

Govt should also impose a huge tax on those corporate who are sponsoring Cricket and Cricketers.

We use use that amount to fund the development of other sports.

Believe me you want to save india from cricket, Ban onedays and t-20. Thats where more money and popularity is. NOt test cricket, its the purest form which todays people really do not like. And by luck or something test cricket is the game which cricketers should play in india more as australians or south africans. You take the money out , the money automatically go to some other place like football or hockey.

Kudos to Bobby and Team India
by Juan Rosario Malvino DeCunha on Aug 14, 2008 12:51 PM

My heartily congratulation to Team India, esp Beichung Bhutia and Sunil Chetri, the two architects of Indian Victory. Also a great kudos to Indian Coach Bob Houghton who transformed Indian team.

I am requesting AIFF to do necessary action to keep Bobby for a few more years, so that he can transform India as a Asian Football Powerhouse.

It is sad that peoples, Indian Medias, and Corporates are not giving that much importance to football, hockey, shooting, archery, swimming, athletics, and other sports even though there are success within the limitation of poor infrastructure and support.

Shame on Indian Cricketers who lost miserably in Sri Lanka. As an Indian, I am ashame of Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid. Sunil Chetri and Beichung Bhutia are real heroes than the above three idiots.

Poor Media Attention on Football and other sports
by vikas joshi on Aug 14, 2008 11:38 AM  | Hide replies

I have read todays Times of India. the first page has a full blown picture of Micheal phelps and relevant reading material while India's victory in AFC Finals was in 31st page with a small picture and article to read. Even in rediff the link was positioned in fourth row.

Great Observation. This is exactly what we lack. Media is concerned about sensation and sellable things and national interest comes later.
