Hey kabeer.. its not narrow mindedness.. it is just to show that Raj runs an indian blood in him. Let US invest in him or whatever... Dear Domainking!
Yes currently am a Pakistani; but I call myself a citizen of India (India undivided)
Am a relic of past! An old man living in undivided greater Punjab i.e.before partition
But does that change the merits or lack of them in my post?
Regarding Indian blood flowing in Rajs veins,
Go and get DNA tests done for most of Indians and you will find that it is a confluence of Iranian, Afghan, Central Asian blood flowing in most of the PUnjabis and some Mongoloid blood flowing in Bengalis etc.,
Where is the purity dear?
Purity exists in only one race i.e Sub Saharan Africans.
The rest of the world has a mixed blood and that includes Pakistanis and Indians too!
Can this fella Raj talk one Gujarati word?
I doubt, given their parents changing their first names to Bob and Sue!
What are you so proud about?
Ask himself! Be sure he would distance himself from all you Indians and will talk in a heavy American accent!
Whereas most Americans living in Lahore and possibly India too can not utter one local word without their own heavy accent!

Kabeer yes he can speak Gujarati very well as I have seen him in Houston. I have a son who is 26 and born in USA and he can also speak and understand Gujarati. My son even participated in Raas Garba when he was 10. Everytime he speaks to us our conversation ends with "Jai Shri Krishana" which is traditional in many Vaishnava families. So without knowing anything about these Indian kids who are born and grew up in USA, do not be judgemental. Some of these kid have gone to varous countries including India to do volunteer work for underpriviledged children. First expand your knowledge base about USA and these Indian kids. They have adopted the best of both the Worlds and we are proud of them. BTW my son also creats great American music using some of the instruments like harmonium and Tabla. So be understanding.

Kabeer , u paki, u calling urself an Indian citizen that too sitting in Lahore. Dreaming of an Undivided India?
I hope the dream of an undivided India is realised in our lifetime..
why are we Indians - esp. the media - so fixated about people who have left this country and earned name for themselves abroad? do they even care that they were born as in this part of the geography? why are we harping on their behalf? he played from USA and he won for that geography... big deal! stop pandering to such instincts that degrade our own nation but hype those who left this geography and made another their home.

he is now an american rather than Indian. So there is nothing to boost about. Also we indians feel proud to say that many of our indians are working in higher positions in USA at Academic institutions/Universities, Industries , NASA etc. If they are working there in USA then we should not feel proud about them just boosting about their success . All these so called indians have left their motherland and adopted USA as their destination. So it is our folly to boost about their success as they will never nor like to return to their motherland.

RE:why this fixation?

Houston, the Home town of Raj Bhavsar has one of the biggest Meenaxi Temple, Swaminarayan Temple, Chinmaya Mission, Shree Nathji Temple, Sai Baba Temple, Shiva Temple and many more. Poor Shrikant is misinformed as he thinks if I live my hometown then know one will know me. Poor Shrikant grow up and look at the Whole World as on place. There is religion and nationality called Humanity and Human.

RE:why this fixation?
by Upendrachar rajagopal on Aug 12, 2008 04:33 PM
The point here is-Indians have potential! do not politicise it.We just need the right training and infrastructure.
If he would have been in India, the chances for going to Olympics would have been zero. The infrastructure and support given to him in USA must have been 100 times better.
RE:No medal if in INDIA
by vinay on Aug 12, 2008 04:28 PM
yes. in fact, even after selection in ind, he wud hv been removed from the squad at the last moment like in case of monika the weightlifter.
When can Indians get over this kind of narrow mindedness?
WHatever Raj is today, it is because of his country i.e. USAs inputs and training that was imparted into him.
Just because someone has distant origins to India, you cant be so proudly browbeat your chests whenever an Indian origin fella achieves something.
Come on Guys get over this kind of prejudices!
Sunita WIlliams was born and raised in the US and she goes into space purely because of the investments done by the US, but You Indians invite her and shower all your national awards on her!
Your Prime Minister has no time for fellow Indians who are suffering but pullsout some of his precious time to meet her and she give Gyan to all Indians!

atleast raj has proved that indians hv potential to succeed in olympics after the bindra success. that is to be appreciated. ultimately, its the efforts of bindra and raj that got them medals and not due to govt supports.

Kabeer, while I agree with you on your point that because of USA's encouragement and investments, these Indian Origins made world records - however, what we need to realise from this is - in India (and in Indians - let it be Sunita or Raj Bhavsar) there is no derth of talent - it is the pathetic attitude of the government in not investing the required facilities, encouragement and finance is what preventing (discouraging) the sports here. Moreover, the corruption in all levels, including sports, sometime makes the most talented person not getting the required attention/encouragement and recognition. but, still, we are, as Indians, proud of the achievements of Non-Resident Indians - after all they are INDIANS.... HINDUSTAN JINDABAD
It is good you left this good for nothing country which is being held to ransom my dirty politicians and cheap sports officers. USA has been able to tap your talent and nourished you. So you should remain faithful to your country i.e. USA. Just be proud to be an American because there is nothing left in this country called India to be proud of. All we see here is dirty politicians, cheap corrupt government officials, jealousy, caste ism, regionalism and all the other dirty "isms" in this world.
INDIAN OLYMPICS By our cricket correspondent Indian Association of Olympics (IAO) recommended the following new sports items which are coming naturally to Indians to be included in forthcoming Olympics so that India can win some gold medals.
Standing: Standing comes naturally to Indians and most sportsmen. Participants in it can practice throughout the year by merely waiting in queues. For the actual occasion, when the gun goes off at the starting line, sportsmen will stand and wait and wait. The winner will inevitably be an Indian. Team Spitting Event: A relay race where contestants are asked to spit in any part of a public building except in the spittoon. Red Light Jump: Instead of the long or high jump, atheletes will have to wait in vehicles at street junctions and asked to jump the stop light. Waterless Polo: As a prelude to the summer Olympics, and the lack of water in summer, the committee proposed that swimmers contest a waterless polo event, thereby also reducing their chances of contracting water-borne disease. Caste Relay Race: A 400-meter relay race in which the four national castes are represented along with other sub-castes and sub-subcastes. Public Urination: The Olympic Committee decided to elevate public urination to the level of competitive sport. Bribery: Archery in which India secured a miserable 84th position at Dhaka will be replaced by bribery, in which India will undoubtedly manage a much better one in the forthcoming Bhopal Ol
