spectator or competitor!

agreed u wanted to witness the grand opening ceremony. it's awesome that u managed to start the race, but ur comments about ur inexperience and wanting to learn stuff makes u lose even before u started. u must give it ur best shot. u might get lucky in the same manner as u got qualified for the big event with germany withdrawing. anything is possible but u must get in there to win. this is probably one reason why we do not win anything. the atheletes are so happy to 'be a part of trhe team'. they love the atmosphere. i mean at 29 this chappy instead of peaking in his sport want to go to the olympics to learn instead of cherishing the opportunity of competing with the best in the world.

By just stating the fact, his wrong attitude does not stand corrected. He has been chosen to represent his country at the biggest event in sports. The least he can do is to atleast TRY to be worthy of that opportunity. But here he is - contented just to be part of the show and enjoy, as if he is on a govt. sponsored holiday!

Offshore events should start later
by Amit Arora on Aug 10, 2008 09:30 PM

Olympics committee should start the events that take place outside the main venue city 2 or 3 days later than the opening ceremony. This would ensure that the participants can comfortably participate in the opening ceremony.
