india rising
by nimit patel on Aug 11, 2008 10:48 AM

at the age of 18 we need to see about our family and financial/// u may be good in sport but first u also need to see that what yr family will eat...

indian are not behind in sport ... but the thing is still we are not that much facilitated and financially strong that we can get ahead in sport..

many people talk like small countries doing better... but there is reason... becasue of small number of population,,, if they spend jsut 10 cr behind sport it will be enough where in india.. 1000 cr investment will not be good..

here parents want their child get educate and start job so that he can be financially strong...

next decade will be of india...

second thing is we are loosing in cricket so we all are crying on seniors... but why people are not looking at england and africa series??? england loosing worst then us... but still they know other team also playing ffor win and they are playing in home town...

india not loosing test in home country whether its australia or africa... or srinland,... then when we are going there we also should keep in mind.. they are now on their home ground and making wicket which favour them...

except first match first inning.. even srilanka is not able to score more.. in third test jsut sangakara make run .. like shehwag done in second test...

india will get more and more medal from next olympic.. its now india rising...

by venkat ramana on Aug 11, 2008 10:16 AM

I request all board member not to comment about indian sports because of the following reasons. It is like throwing mud on ourselves.
1. Only person who doesn't participate in any game will not loose, rest all definelty will loose one or other point. We people sitting infornt of computer and making some nasty comments.
2. How many of us are intrested in making our children as sports persons.
3. How many of us has suuported the familiy of reteired hockey player who commited sucide on chennai local train becasue of financial issues.
4. How many of us,supported dhanraj pillay when he cried infornt of media why people are not supporting hockey like the way we are supporting cricket.
5. Today india even didn't qualify for hockey in olympics, how many of us staged a dharna infont of hockey federation to give the answer for such disaster.
6.How many of us has taken autographs from other sports person other than heros heroines and cricketer
7.How many of us know names of complete team of hockey
8. How many of us are spending atleast 10% of time that is spend on watching cricket.
9. How much attention media or any other oraganisation are giving to these sports persons and how they are supporting them during their practice sessions.
10. How many of us has given the attention to these persons, the way whole indian media and other have given the attention to sunita williams who herself decalred that she is not indian.

The list continues...to end less

why is it that our sportsmen/women perform like this at the international level? is it the bane of this country of a 1 Billion population not to produce even one person who can win a gold medal at the olympics? it is a shame for us.

Why no discussion boards ?
by Indian Indian on Aug 11, 2008 09:05 AM  | Hide replies

Indians are not too Interested in Sports, you can tell that, I'm the first person posting a message here. Also if rediff will continue it's new policy of not having discussion boards on the Political news articles since 99% discussions are blasting the Spineless UPA govt, Rediff's popularity will fall...

no dear, it is not that they are not interested, there are some vested interests, who dont allow real talent to come up .. all the money invested in sports are taken up by them. high time, some body did something about this. it is not that we are not interested in sports;

Every one knows that we Indian will not be able to produce any rea show in Olympic..we just particpate in these highest level of game for showing sportsmanship..nothing else.

This will mostly be completely whitewash of all Indian contingent ..let us be practical.

Just 3 messages on news showing Indian Olympics results. This is the reason why we fail at non cricketing international and more recognised sports. People themselves are not interested..Of course Govt and selfish and useless politicians are also to blame no boubt. I bet there till be thousands of messages on India's batting failure in the second innnings of the 3d test! What a shame. Now Rathore and the Tennis duo are the only remaining hope!
