Why India cannot win Olympic Games medals?
by krishnakanth on Aug 11, 2008 08:24 AM

Indian sports candidates having good strength, coaching & few good facilities. Management or selection team may not be doing their work excellently then where the problem or root cause is?
Olympic Games are time based sports. Totally depends on time. (Few seconds and fraction of seconds.)

Most of the Indians r not punctual about timing.
Politicians, employees, trains, flights, buses everywhere there is delay. Then how come sports person become punctual about time?

But India is one of the good cricket playing country, because cricket is in hours with lunch, drinks, rest, tea time etc.

If I’m wrong then ur good thoughts?

A BIG FOOOOSSSSS !!!!
by drbruno noronha on Aug 10, 2008 04:59 PM  | Hide replies

IT WAS EXPECTED!!!
OUR SPORTSMEN WILL COME BACK EMPTY HANDED...
DO WE HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PERFORM???
NO...
WE HAVE SENT THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE CLOSENESS WITH POLITICIANS AND NOT THE PERFORMERS.
PEOPLE LIKE KALMADEE NEED TO BE SENT HOME PACKING WITH HARD KICKS ON THEIR BACKS.
WHAT HAS THIS MAN DONE FOR THE SPORTS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA. HE IS A BENCHWARMER ...A SHAMELESS ADMINISTRATOR WHO NEEDS TO BE FIRED.

ITS HIGH TIME NOW.
WE NEED TO RESTORE OUR PRIDE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE..

quote "WE HAVE SENT THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE CLOSENESS WITH POLITICIANS AND NOT THE PERFORMERS"

this is not true ... the atheletes are the best that India has, just not better than everyone else who is participating.

First time an American of Indian origin is in the US Gym team. Hope more Indians are encouraged and motivated by Raj Barsar to train for Gymnastics. India should get a Russian and Chinese coach to train Indians in Gym.

biassed treatment to other sports
by swetambar on Aug 10, 2008 03:37 PM  | Hide replies

this is what is expected of sprtspersons representing a country like India where, cricket is a religeon. we are not having minimum facilities for in villages where nearly 70% of population exists. todays schools and collecges in urban areas do not have space even for conducting school functions. we are to be blamed for this low performances in sports other than cricket

Let us not benchmark ourselves against others. Why do you say we are to blame? What is there to be blamed for? 99% of India are not interested in Sports, 99% do not care for the performances, they have other concerns. So where is the question of blame when the matter is something very few feel about.

So don't be negative.

It's like saying the average Indian is 6 inches shorter than the average European and we are to blame for that!!

Why don't you, Kalmadi and the Gandhi family go there and win some medals?
The archers did not disgrace themselves. You did by putting that message.

how does the Gandhi family come into picture? like Vajpayee and Advani have won lots of Olympic medals.

Vajpayee will win Gold in slow talking and sleeping while at work
Advani will win Gold in praising a terrorist country's leaders
Jaswant Singh will win Gold in escorting terrosists
Yashwant Sinha will win Gold in copying someone else's fiscal policies

Well who had the family get together at the Olympics? And discussed with the Bhutto family about who had more family members die rotten deaths. Cannot be Vajpayee ... Not Advani either ... It is MADAM SONIA watching the Olympics with her family and the BHUTTO family.

Hey Ganesh you donkey.

They are the best team India can send.

They only lost to China which is currently in the finals - so they lost to either the gold medal or silver medal winner.

They were seeded into the final round ie they are in the top 6 in the world.

They were sent because there was a very good chance of them winning a medal.

So shut your ignorant mouth and check your archery fundas before shooting arrows in the dark.

WOW guys. not jumping into a debate, but i at this point in time, am happy about is to see people backing up the olympic contingent as heroes. Proud of you all.

Be optimistic and cheer team India in their wins and defeats.

After all, like a famous poet once said, "girte hain shah savaar hee maidan-e-jang mein, woh tifn kya girega jo ghutno ke bal chalta hai."

:)

It was nice to watch India performance in Olympics. Though rain was affecting both the team, little bit luck( efforts) would have taken us in.
