Hmmm..
by Shovon Chakraborty on Aug 06, 2008 10:24 PM

I had a doubt that something like this might happen. Especially beacuse the IWF had cleared the much tainted (and dope test failed) Shailaja ahead of Monika. And, only today, I am getting the news that Shailaja was better than Monika. Probably all other results prove otherwise. It is high time, these corrupted officials, with a high degree of bias towards their breathern are thrown out.

Jumping to conclusions
by Chris on Aug 06, 2008 09:57 PM

Noone is reading these statements and jumping to conclusions and supporting Monika.
1. Monika, who was India's lone representation in weightlifting, was selected ahead of Shailaja in the IWF trial last month despite the latter (i.e Shailaja) emerging to be a better performer.

2. "I want to make it clear that against the general perception I am not from Andhra Pradesh and I have no reason to promote Shailaja."

Lets wait for the facts and then judge who is the culprit

Even if now they send monika, still no use. It is a tendency which is prevalent in EACH AND EVERY department in india. The one reaching the top are useless morons, and they enjoy to pull down real talented people and spoil their lives.

if you are a young student, try to find opportunity abroad for work or study. if you are already older and working, try to stay away from such politics and focus on your family life, otherwise ur life will be stressful.

Supreme court rightly said, "even god can not help india".

Yes.. as if you guys are the most pious people.. in the world. Height of hypocrisy,.
God save India.. from these regionalist people.
These perverts have no idea that having a Rao or a Naidu as a surname does not automatically make
that person automatically from Andhra. Remember Amrita Rao (is from Goa or Mah and not AP) and so is G. Kuppuswamy Naidu (a philantropher from Coimbatore TAMIL NADU) is not from AP but a TAMILIAN. And soo could be the case with this guy- Mr. Tamil.

These guys are unnecessarily bringing regionalism into picture. Instead focus should be on whether Monika can really qualify. If she cannot - then she has to blame herself. If she does - well and good and ALl the best.

What a ridiculous comment from a Tamilian. I had high regards for Tamilians and felt they were not regionalists. but yes.. Tamilians are dirty anti - nationalists and promote their own - language ..

Sorry.. had no choice but had to use your tricks.. to properly answer you. My view on Tamilians does nt change because of a 'black sheep' I respect them as much as anyone from India...

India should get these kind of people who see regionalism into everything...

Naidu must be removed.
by Samir Sharma on Aug 06, 2008 08:19 PM  | Hide replies

There should be an immediate enquiry against Naidu. If he is proved guilty , he should be immediately thrown out of his post as India do not need these kind of regionalism.

If found guilty, is throwing out of post sufficient since look at the harm done to the Country as well as to a sportsperson who has only limited opportunities for Olympics (since age and other factors will never be the same after 4 years at the next Olympics).

if u can publish the dope test, why cant you openly show the result. what have u to hide . why stand on procedures . the candidate has a right to contest. this is why this country of a billion cant produce a single medalist...leo

The timing is extremely important since only days are left for the Olympics.
Why wasn't this done earlier?

by Kabir Anand on Aug 06, 2008 08:06 PM  | Hide replies

The sport related authorities are so much biased and dishonest that i bet they can go to the extend of giving baned drug to player without her knowledge to disqualify her.

The timing is so suspicious.

Now you know why India come back Madel less , these sport authorities use these event just as simple foreign trip.

RTI invocation

Monika should try to invoke Right to Information Act here to get the reports and get it verified with right people. These Naidu's kind of people are a piece of shit and can be bought for small pennys.

A VIA-MEDIA SOLUTION
by kabeer on Aug 06, 2008 07:16 PM  | Hide replies

IF DOPE TEST IS NOT PROVED OR CONNIVED, WHY CAN'T WE SEND BOTH MONICA AND SAILAJA AS A TEAM OF WEIGHTLIFTERS FROM INDIA TO OLYMPICS AS OTHER COUNTRIES DO! IT CAN SOLVE THE CONFLICT AS WELL ANY ONE OF THEM BEING EQUALS CAN BRING LAURELS TO THE NATION.

India has in the past a poor reputation as weightlifters have failed dope tests and been stripped of medals. That's why nobody is willing to take a chance.
