The Indian government should take a cue from the way the chinese government has handled its sportspersons. The chinese ensure that their sportspersons are identified early, their talents spotted, then are provided world class training and supported very well leading them to enjoy a normal life. In other words, there is no pressure financially or mentally on these atheletes which enables them to train n compete freely which in turn brings out medal winning performances. In Athens, chinese won 30 odd gold medals and I am not sure how long will India need to reach a combined tally of even 15 medals in olympics!

dont u watch ngc? chinese sportsperson are under tremendous pressure to win a world record tally of golds.should they fail there is a good chance they will end up as guests of the benevolent fatherland.furthermore many chinese coaches have expressed concern over china's gold medal producing factory system of training which does not give athletes the time to recover from injuries.also all this olympic training is done without inculcating a sporting culture in the people of china.chinese parents are just like indian parents, they want there children to study and not waste time on other things.so lets not be hasty in copying the chinese.
China is emerging as world power in most of sports we have in olympics,Medal in Track n field for liu xiang(110 hurdle) or doubles gold medal for women Tennis team. Before Athens china were no where in many sports they got medals in Athens.Chinese system really support sports persons both mentally and financially. Moreover its not just money n fame but sheer hardwork of chinese athletes too. Being Indian i really hope we can win atleast 2-3 medals at this olympics so that for future we can get confidence that we can win medals in Olympics too.
