by Navin Agarwal on Aug 06, 2008 11:59 AM

All the best to Dola for winning the archery competition. I am wondering where is that guy Jayant Talukdar?? Sometime back he was winning all the championships he participated in. But he is not a part of the male archery team. Any idea why is it so??

Beautifully said Raj. I like the way you put it crisply in one sentence.

You are absolutely right. We just cant suddenly get a GOLD MEDAL without any importance to any sports except cricket in India. If we want GOLD MEDAL ...we must also invest in sports and sporting infrastructure throughout the year, year after year for the 4 years before next Olympics and ready people. We must invest in very young kids and these so called big rich corporates must support them right from now and give them full confidence so that atleast after 10 years or so they can qualify for Olympics and be a strong force to reckon with and WIN some medals for the country.

In most developed countries they mentor their kids from a very tender age to make them champions in future. Little kids aged 10 or less (sometimes even as less as 6 years old) are enthusiastically seen training hard and learning to mould their bodies and minds in sports like gymnastics, football and swimming.

We Indians with a billion people dont have any participation in these events in any Olympics.
Offcourse this time in swimming one 16 year old Indian has qualified. But we need more coaching, more sports infra and more commitment to not just cricket but Olympic sport to actually even dream of Gold medals in Individual sport.

Yaar Ravi.

India being 2nd highest populated country in world cant even send 100 athletes to Olympics.. They dont even have 100 people qualified to even step into Beijing stadiums for Olympics..forget winning medals.

57 is not even 10% of China's 639.

Now isnt this a shame you stupid ravichandra.
Before calling others stupid.. you know the facts and speak. Nobody is abuding the country and all. We all love INDIA...We are feeling sad that we just cant even compete being the 2nd biggest country in world in terms of Janatha or population. Thats all. I contribute to India through my work. I am proud of it. But what are the sportsmen doing ? Everybody just wants to play cricket and cricket is not an Olympic sport.

We are not even trying to have T20 Cricket and Kabaddi and Chess in Olympics. That way atleast we can ENSURE 3 Medals. Even that our sports bodies are not trying. When America can have their sport Baseball in Olympics as a medal sport why we cant have cricket. Its played by atleast 20 countries in world today.

When they can have BMX biking as Olympics medal sport which hardly 20 countries in world even play, why not Kabaddi ?

See...we dont want to win medals...we just want to participate just because we are also one of the 200 countries on world map. Thats all. Isnt that sad ?

Yeah its fact u r one of the dearest daughters of mother india. I have seen the performance in Atehnes where we lost to korea by just 1 point in the semi- finals and korea winning the medal. More the little bit if luck u missed in athens will favour u this time. And my heartiest best wished to u Dole and other archery team.

Remember india will only remember only if u get a medel in olympics. Else u will be very soon forgetten. Try hard and u will win and u should win.

my prayers wiil be for u for next few days...
