Hokey given priority
by Mudassar Ahamed on Apr 24, 2008 05:12 PM

Its a good move that Hokey is moved to the priority list. I think athletics should have also featured in this priority list.
The cash rich BCCI should channelise some of its money to these sports also.
Govt should give more grants to this orphaned games unlike cricket who has a guardian in every street of India.

Kudos to Mr Gill,

we heard a good news from minister after long time breaking from cricket.

I request IHF, football federation and basketball fed to start IPL style city based team and competition so that it attracts more people , generates enough money for players and youngsters area attracted to these games.
please look at it.

Long overdue
by shankar chatterjee on Apr 23, 2008 08:50 PM

The upgradation of Hockey was overdue. It should be made compulsory in schools in all states. Also, Ajit Pal Singh, M.P.Ganesh, MM Kaushik, should be in overall charge of IHF.And, needless to say, KPS Gill needs to go.

Required change
by Aby Koshy on Apr 23, 2008 08:01 PM

I sincerely hope that these changes are not just cosmetic changes, but a harbinger of good times that we seem to have lost in the annals of time. I sincerely hope that hockey is brought back to the mainstream national conscience through sustained exposure and media coverage.

India has the required expertise to beat the best in the world through our own indigenous methods. Let us get the right people to play and to govern. I have nothing for or against KPS Gill and neither for or against MS Gill. As long as decisions are taken on meaningful assumptions, hockey can flourish. Let the beautiful game have the resurrection that it so badly requires.

A good start has been made. I welcome the decision.
