Good. I believe Hockey has all the thrill element as any other sport. But IHF never drawn monetary benefits from the Hockey match. People have to believe the team can win, otherwise you will have less viewers.
Riding on the current form of the Indian team, the status of the Hockey can be revived.
Hockey have to be play more frequently and travel a lot to get exposure around the world. Frequent tours will improve the performance of the team. For that matter Indian Cricket team plays around 40 ODIs per year.
No sponcers, No media coverage No money Being served dal roti in cheap motels, Traveling by 2 class trains. No jobs I think media is also responsible for this as they will just scan there cameras on players crying for recognition but not when they perform.. Remember how dhanraj pillai was filmed while he was sobbing. But never when he use to play for the country..

Hockey has to be promoted from school level. We know almost every school has cricket team, but doubt about hockey. This is were problem is.
cricket is our national sport.. not hockey.. i never watched a hockey match in my life.. and i am sure most indians haven't.. also they won asia cup and not world cup.. all top hockey teams are from europe.. why waste money on these players.. also government is not responsible for giving prize money

Mr Veejay, Hockey is our national game and not cricket. Its because of step motherly treatment, hockey has gone to present state.

I am sure the players are ready to take you to their home as because you have discrimination of game, perhaps you are not an INDIAN as because the National Game of INDIA is HOCKEY not CRICKET. The people who have never played a game can never learn the pain of Hockey where you get only 90Minutes to do or die where as in Cricket 20 Twenty you get 3 hours. And at any point of time a ball can hit the player which is a lot heavier than a cricket ball and you play on astroturf all players have hockey sticks which can be dangerous if flicked etc. etc. CRICKET is a gentlemen game as they say only a few exchanges of eyes and lipping of words and abuses by senior players can be watched with your KIDS beside you.....

I hope u have not studied ur primary text books properly. U better tell the media to cover the Hockey matches.Just imagine winning 8 gold medals in Olympics is not a easy task.
Ok what has Cricket done to us? Only make us spend 8 Valuable hours of our in front of the TV.But Hockey is 2 hour sport where every player runs behind the Ball & in cricket only the concerned fielder does the same.
I seriously support Hockey & I am not against Cricket.And 20//20 is not a cricket , Its a Gully cricket which we all play.let them play 50 overs cricket and get a WORLD CUP.

Hockey is our national game, not cricket. The hockey team won the Asia cup very convincingly, there were no draws or even penalty shootouts. Also if as you say governement is not responsible for prize money (which I agree with) then why are they wasting TAX PAYERS money by giving away all those cash to cricketers who are already rich and who are getting prize money anyway from the cricket board. I understand the goverment officials congratulating the sports teams when they win something big, but they should try to treat all major sports equal treatment.
It is a welcome gesture on the part of Karnataka CM to have announced this reward. Following this example, the other states too must announce reward for our Hockey players.
Congrtas Kumaraswamy... If all CMs in all matters are open like this and act spontaneously to rectify the mistakes it would usher a new era in the relationship between politicians and public. In one stroke you have gained our affection. Please keep it up.
it is a mockery thathockey being our national game is ignored so much that our hockey heroes has to protest for their basic right.i respect to the glory cricket brought to our country but same had done 50 yrs back by our hockey team.old is gold than sports authurties need to pour and find out the laxity with in the system.hockey players need to get fame and money if our country wants to see them world chapion again. as said that we r best upcoming economy in world so as if we wnt to be the best than we have to take every thing together so that we can say now really we r t champion inevery field and game too.they r true heroes coz they r not looking for any benefits but then also they strive so hard to get glory to the world. hockey players r true heros and i salute them for their services to the nation.i must say to them"chuk de india"

hey man.......... show some respect....... hockey is our national game....... and these players recently thrashed everyone in the asian games........ yes they haven't performed that well for quite a long..... but the thing is.......... noone cares abt it........ when indian team were kicked out of the world cup....... everyone was either with the players or agnst them.......... if the same thing happenned in hockey........ v all either ignore it or forgets it in 1 day....... theres no money to motivate the players....... even if they do well........ noone cares....... they r in the headlines for 1 day....... and the rest is history the next........ thats also not fair

come on peyush..thats the glimpse of indian culture..Cricket crazy india has atleast one thing to cheer about looking at the gloomy situation around..we are blinded by cricket, we have reasons to believe that cricket is the best thing in the world as compared to any other game be it hockey or football..prabodh's attitude is what is majority indians attitude and that attitude defines our culture...ask youself how many people u know of promoted their kids to take up other sport than cricket.. u wud get ur answer...

Haha, RC you don't know what you are talking about.. My son had picked up Hockey in school in Mumbai but gave it up cos of the fact that the school did not have a hockey coach! He thinks he has a better chance of playing crciket at the first class level due to good infra in Mumbai!! And i don't blame him and i have not stopped him.... Tell me, what is the future of hockey in India?? Every kid(my son is now 14) wants to pick up cricket cos they see light at the end of the struggle.... Same cannot be said about hockey...

Voila ...you dont have to prove to me..but i would say even lay man who can read and understand english what u worte cud be a lie....a person who has such contempt against hockey would send his own kid to play hockey....you are one of the 250 million indians who customize the term respect for their own good...considering the fact that u did tell ur kid to go and play..then with ur attitude it was good fortune of hockey dept (if it existed) that they didnt have a facility to entertain people who have no respect for other games.. i hope ur disrespect is limited to the message boards..and kids dont learn bad things..

Yo.. there u go.. what if cricket is not in olympics..it would be included in future..it is going to be included in commonwealth games..only problem is since we hav a lot of teams playing we cant have every one play it.. but 20-20 will solve that too.. the worlds richest sports body is BCCI, unlike other games cricket can be played in any where anytime..only u need to have a bat and balls.. rest everything is there.. people get what they deserve...
