we all are here to comment, but that is a fact of life where there is no money people will not like to go. so cricket yes, while football if you have capability of becoming best, you will get little money in india, so giving best in such condition is really fine. Have people here tried to do there best in there profession, while not getting enough money, i think we should motivate them.

this is not true. If this was teh case, then india will always be ranked about sri lanka where there is less money for football and less amount of talent. The fact is that SL for sometime was ranked about India (dont know about now). Partly because you guys SUCK
its good sign people started looking other than cricket .... all credit to Foodball team they did this with out much sponcership ... all the best Team India

Why does development of football or hockey have to come at the expense of cricket? A nation of our size can surely support more than one sport!

That is the problem...We Indian's dont care about winning the world cup but we would like it to host.......Arre jitne ke khwab to dekho
Now the foot ball is looking up. Give lot of encouragement and incentives for people to take up foot ball. Catch young kids who have talent and train them so that they can deliver after 5 to 6 years. If India climbs from 145 to 100 in two years time it will be an outstanding achievement.

Only one way to enter the Fifa world cup, rope in foreign players into our national team, just like Japan did before.
they are doing better than cricketrs.... i think we need a bit reorganisation the IFL and teams ..... and pump all the money of BCCI into IFL ... football will do much better

Ya good observation a*s**le Dont talk rubbish they are still ranked 145 and u are saying they are doing better than cricketer. Ya it was good to see them winning nehru cup but let them play match against italy may be even senegal and I am sure they wont even score a single goal if they play even 100 matches. Atleast in cricket we win sometimes against NO Australia and South Africa. And cricket has money in it because atleast they perform good there are bad times too but they reached semifinal in WC 96 and final in 2003 these were the good time and turning point for them and that brought them money.

For that matter India will do much better in Kabbadi than Cricket. Since Kabbadi is played by three nations. Atleast we'll figure in the top three. Stop talking nonsense. Football is a game with Global appeal. And competing with Italy requires super infrastructure, which we currently lack. Dont open yer trap just becos u have one. Think!!

There is no comparison, between cricket and football. Indian team 145, this is a great achievment with poor infrastructure and lack of support.

Money into football and winning matches is like the Chicken and egg story. For performing great you need money, but there are lots of African companies doing much better without even our infrastructure. Indian cricket too is hardly organized, it is top heavy- with only international players making it big with no competitive domestic league. The wins of 83 and finals of '03 will only pull us so far in cricket. SriLanka with a more organized cricketing structure is doing much better with limited resources. Basically, India lacks sports culture. It has less to do with infrastructure. Simple comparison: Kerala with minimal infrastructure performs much better than Delhi which has international stadia etc. Sports, healthy living, yoga and overall personality development (and not crazy marks and scores)has to be given prime importance in our schools and society in general.

(missed one point) chicken& egg: and for getting sponsorship the football team has to attract crowds and hence TV coverage (for which it's performance has to be international class consistently)
Our guys dont become complacent as our cricket team.The guys need to work even harder to acheive higher ranking,with winning almost every match and dont be satisfied with just a win. I hope the best for our guys.
