Umpiring
by Sharath on Sep 19, 2007 08:39 PM

PHF claims were unfair.Like Mr.Jothikumaram said it is always India who were victims of bad umpiring.Even in the final two Indian players were shown yellow card(Prabhjhot and Sardar- both were a bit harsh).I remember in WC 2006 when Ger bt Ind 3-2,In the dying moments the Germans made a pass by sending it above knee height(almost hit the defender's balls )and it was shocking to find the Umpire not blowing the whistle which eventually became the winning goal-This is just one instance. Atleast in Asia and Australia umpiring is nuetral.Whereas in Eurupean soils it is totally partial towards white skinned teams. As i have told before the FIH consists of European members, all rules and policies are ammended and framed on their behalf. This condition can only change if India has equal share in FIH in terms of officials and sponsers .

pakistan plays with 13 players!
by joe on Sep 19, 2007 05:42 PM

I remember an old amarnath joke. Indians used to complain that australian umpiring was so biased. The joke that went around was that australia plays with 12 players. i.e 11 plaxers plus umpire. After amarnath had a miserable pakistan series, he complained that aussies atleast play with 12 but pakistanis play with 13 players..i.e 11 player umpire leg-umpire.

Altaf Sabir cries out fauls.
by Ahmad Rais Siddiqi on Sep 19, 2007 05:36 PM

This is,really, very unsporting of Pakkistan's Sabir to say that there was some biased umpiring.
"There is no use of crying over the split milk"' or "Naach na Jaaney Aangan Terha".
Pak team played very bad game and so they lost, where as,India and other teams performed better.
SK;s Unpire was absolutely, correct in his all decisions and the total quality of all the umpires was marvellous.
Pakistan, must see the waaknesess of his imperfect team rather than criticing the umpering.
Pakistan's Coach, former Wolrld,Champions Tophy,Asian Games and Olympics Champions's team's Captain was the Manager/Coach of this team and he tried his level best but players played the wrong game and thus lost all important matches and got the lowest 6th position.
A shame on the team of such a higher callibre manager,Islah Uddin Siddiqi(former Captain, manager, coach and a member of IHF Executive Committee, also).
Islah Uddin Siddiqi was most upset when his players didn't play upto his expectations.
There was news in the media that PHF's President Khalid has desired to call a meeting to discuss the weakness of his team.
Now,I feel that Pakistan should, sportingly, which is difficult but not impossible for Pak to appreciate the total quality of umpiring and the game also of this Asia Cup that India won with it's best performance.
We,all the hockey lovers must condenm Sabir's baseless and unsporting comments and Say"Well Played India".Keep it up in othere matches to come.
And for Islah Uddin siddiqi'
