Roddick said once to Federer, I'd love to HATE you, but I'CANT. That says a LOT about Roddick as much as it says about Federer. Federer probably reads the manufacturers prints on Roddicks serve by now, given the hopelessly lopsided record of 13-1 but on and off the court, there is enough respect for each others games and personalities. Unlike the Serena-Justine rivalry. I always thought that Venus is the more graceful of the two, and has more class as a person overall.
When James Blake, Andy Roddick, John Isner, Robby Ginepri, Lindsay Davenport play at US Open, they get special treatment from fans, Venus and Serena don't. They are ridiculed all over the world. In Aus Open, some people were yelling some unmentionable things right before her serve. The chair umpire asked people to show more respect towards the players.
At Wimbledon, the mecca of tennis, they were treated badly. Each one of her unforced errors was cheered. Situation is worse at French Open. French people, given the French people's lenience towards good looks.
The only place where Venus and Serena can count for some support is the US Open. I saw the match yesterday night and it was pathetic. People were supporting the Belgian over an American in America. I know Henin is the best player in the world, but it looks so unfair. Serena is not some other top 20 player. She has won a career slam for christ's sake. It is like if Roger Federer plays Andy Roddick at US Open, the fans generally support Roddick. So why this discrimination. Put yourself in Serena's shoes. How'd you feel?
I know that she should have put up a more gracious face in defeat but that's what the fans deserve and they get it. Serena is the kind of player who, when the crowd gets going, she gets going. In the Pacific Open (master's series in california), she came back and won the semis purely on support from fans.

i watched this match live and i can tell you Serena was outplayed in all departments and she lost hopelessly to Justine henin , instead of accepting defeat and graciously admire her opponent she looks for silly excuses , and says she made lucky shot come on whom is she trying to fool , completely lacking of personality and sportsman or sportswomen ship hahaha she is lost badly period

Williams sisters kind of people??? What kind of a remark is that? For everybody's information, I am a fan of Justine Henin and I watched it for her, cheered for her and I was happy when she won. However, I could not help notice that, Serena seemed very tired after first set.
And tanmoy, instead of asking me to grow up, please see what I have written. I am not even trying to justify the graceless attitude of Serena, I am merely giving a reason why she behaved that way.
What do you call the kind of people who, even before watching a match, form an opinion.

Venus is a much better person than this egomaniac sister of hers. Serena will never be a crowd favoriate. When Venus won the wimbledon, she was cheered for the incredible comeback. Serena gets booed because of her lack of respect for fans in her heydays. Arthur Ashe was never booed for his color. Sania is cheered universally everywhere despite not being a white. Point is that Serena was never gracious enough on or off the court to be accepted by people. You got the proof in her own country yesterday.

Hey Vikas,r u blind Serena fan.Grow up man.U have to make fans,either u win or lose.And mind u players attitude is the main concern here.If somebody like serena didnot know how to respect others and others tennis,then what the hell she should think that fans will support her.Remember wimbledon QF.There also she said after losing to henin that thats the worse match she have ever played and she gave nothing credit to henin. See why now most people love Federer and nadal.Bcoz they r the true sportsman and true gentleman.And here Srena evrytime behave like a child after losing.And mind u Kim Clisters had the biggest fan following for women when she played though she had only won 1 Grandslam.But she make most fans bcoz of her behavior. So bottomline is Serena' s attitude sucks.

not only she i think most of the current players would lose against henin such a good player is she.Ya everytime serena gives sm excuse,this is nt a good quality.She lost the game at her home that too against henin that is hurting her most . well played henin gd luck
serena williams sucks, she has no sportsman spirit!! She is still dwelling in her past successes,...she needs to change her attitude if she wants to reach any further heights!!

Right sais Rahul! Serena really sucks to the core. She lacks sportsman spirit completely. She cries on the court like a baby. Whats the point in showing off those muscles if you're so much fond of crying all the time??? GROW UP SERENA!
