good run
by jamie on Sep 05, 2007 05:13 PM

Sania had a good run at the US OPEN.It would be great if she got through the doubles or mixed doubles final but she had a decent run loosing to higher seeds. There are so many things Sania can take away from this experience and she will only benifit if she watch the replay of her old matches. It was a good run a very positive experience for her and i am sure she will be a better player next time and start making less errors.Good job and keep it going.

Sorry that was referring to SM/BM v/s the TPE pair. As far as Paes/Shaughnessey goes its still 2-1 in set two for Paes/MS - there's a long 4th game going on with several dueces.

Fake Accent Sania

No doubt that Sania has done which no other indian lady tennis player has done and achieved, but if she ditches her attitude and her fake American accent, it will be better

Its not a fake accent but rather a correct way of speaking ie., the way british and americans speak.

If you dont adapt and speak in the way they speak (the originators of language) then they dont understand what the heck u are on about. So stop critisizing anything and everything. If the accent she is speaking is fake then what is a true or original accent?

MOST Indians dont even know the difference between V and W. When they say 'what', they pronounce it as 'Vhat'. Or for example when it comes to saying "way", indians pronounce it as "vay". Understand the difference between Vay and Way now? V & W pronounciation?

To u it might not be any different but Europeans and americans mock at indians when they talk. Thats why even tho so many call centre jobs have moved to india but ask americans and brits how pissed they get when their call gets transferred to offshore helpdesk in india. This is because they dont understand jack when an agent sitting in india is talking bout, altho am not saying this is 100% true but it is in majority of the cases. They getting peed off cuz they dont understand a word your speaking altho ur speaking english but like hinglish.

So open ur mind learn to adapt or atleast do not critisize those who adapt themselves according to need.

What a load of bull crap? I have lived and worked in the U.S. for long enough to know that Americans can understand your accent quite well without you required to put on a fake American accent. All you have to do is to speak clearly and not too fast. Besides why the f should we know the difference between v and w? It is morons like you who are ashamed of your indian accent and want to imitate and ape the american accent - most morons like you have landed in the US just a month/two ago but you want to boast of an american twang with every other Indian around as if they cannot speak in your rediculous adaptation! We just have humility and don't need to sport a fake accent to kiss up to Americans. For your kind information the educated and non-hillbilly americans have little respect for morons like you who have no self -identity or self respect and are willing to ape anything western irrespective of whether it is right or wrong. By the way, learn to spell first - unsophisticated wretch!

lol u mug, there IS a difference between V & W thats why they are 2 different letters and have different pronunciation. However, a dumb-ass like you cant figure out the difference hence asks about why you need to know difference. But the fact is they are 3 different letters, V pronouced as in victor and w pronounced as in WALL (and mind you not VALL). So learn the difference and learn to speak correctly.

BTW I am no freshie, regardless how long u claimed to have lived, you will always be called an F.O.B or a freshie.. as far as am concerned I was born in Ilford you twat.

Abi Jabi, I second your note. Typically it is the newly landed ones here in US, that want to "ape" the pronunciation of the westerners, and mock at their own kind. But we got to be kind to these newbies coz they will turnaround for the good once they understand that being "oneself" even in a new surrounding gets more respect, wherever one goes. I am sure our friend is someone new to US landed in a good grad school with a fellowship and hanging out with 20 something ghoras, that mock at desi accent that does not use V and W in the way a localite would.

To AR:
Oye American wanna be! Why are you so ashamed of your accent? The hispanic are not ashamed, the europeans are not ashamed but you are ashamed. Besides if you are American born, why are you boasting about your 'bonafide' accent on a primarily Indian news portal. Go and boast of your accent amongst the Americans - the reason you are posting here is because of your insensibility and need to show superiority over the other Indians. I am not disputing the correctness of v and w or whatever, since you are too weak minded to comprehend and so quick on protecting the way one should speak in the American accent, you completely missed my point - America is a land of immigrants and American culture accepts you as you are. So if you were truly American you would not be posting the BS here. Another thing- the only reason I am responding to your low intellect comments is because I don't want you to assume the silence of others as acceptance of your dumb and slave-like/kiss-ass views.

Can you explain what's wrong with her attitude? In my opinion she actually has the perfect attitude and it adds to her game as well as her allure. Therefore I'd like to know what exactly it is about her attitude that caused your comment.

Also, I have no idea how her accent plays a role in affecting either her play or anything else, so could you please throw some light on that too.

Unless of course you were also simply shooting your mouth off like many other critics of hers. In which case kindly do not bother to reply, it's not worth wasting time on.

Self motivation and Belief in our abilities is the Key!!
by chandra sekhar on Sep 04, 2007 06:31 PM  | Hide replies

To my understanding at some corner Indian's lack self belief and are not self motivated. This is because occationally whenever they win by some fluke they tend to keep winning in the same stream. But, when they start loosing, they do that for a long time before they recover.

This problem can only be reduced in case every sports person in India believes in themselves and motivates themselves first. This is the key for any success. Blaming someone for our failures, often destractions not related to the sport being played are some of the elements to be avoided. In case these types of issues are taken care other issues can be addressed.

Politics and evil play in any area normally center around the best. When you believe in yourself and your abilities you tend to become the best and prefect in the trade which you are performing you will be the best. This happens to be the key for your success.

Obviously in a globalized world no best effort can be hidden. And there are many who require the best. Examples are always before us. Like the BCCI/ICL. BCCI has not recognized some good players and their performances over a period of time (As said by Great Kapil recently) and then came the ICL which is ready to recognize the efforts. Who knows ICL may end up in forming a second body world wide and become like FIFA and UEFA of cricket. Who knows there will be many crickets who are recognized in future for their talent. Who knows someone is planning for Hockey in the same lines.
