She has reached the point she was going to reach. Second or third round in any major tournament, but, even that is good before we had not been doing that also earlier.

So, cheer up, folks.

We should not be saying this, but unfortunately, it seems to be the case.

And the thing you mentioned stands up a lot of times in photos.

its not popat's fault, if you see the photos in the newspapers, it becomes clear that they are hand-picked to make sure that it tickles people's senses.

I think she should come back and start doing namaaz and wear burqas.. Her unislamic ways of displaying thunder thighs and huge assets are not doing any good.

allaahu akbar, inshallah she will wear some stylish burqas

I am not surprise whatever you said about her because what else can you do. I am pretty sure if she was winning, you would be the first one who will come and say she is Muslim. How proud you are about her... And that%u2019s why after 60 yrs of independent we still 60 yrs.

I don%u2019t know if you are Muslim or Hindu and it doesn%u2019t matter because both religions say respect women. I don%u2019t judge people with their clothing, I go with their heart. I am pretty sure %u201CPeople who talk about full clothes or burkhas in day; they love to open those whenever they get chance.%u201D

Next time before comment about anybody please check yourself first.

hey vaishali, get your facts right, nowhere in the quran says that we have to respect woment, they are there only for our pleasure and for bearing children, instead of doing that, this sania is going around places doing unislamic things. better she comes back and lives by the quran and produces scores of babies and takes good care of her shauhr

I am just curious to know what was Vijay Amritraj's best ranking in singles ? How many times did he beat top players like Borg, McEnroe, Connors, Lendl etc. ?

Vijay Amritaj has beaten Bjorn Borg, Wilander and Connors but not in the grand slam. I still remember him beating Wilander in the Davis Cup, that was one hell of performance from Vijay. He badly wanted to win a game for India otherwise, it is clean sweep. Vijay was not regularly playing tennis at the time and Wilander was top 3 player at the time.

Vijay certainly reached the Qurter Final at Wimbledon. Also at that time, ABC of Tennis referred to Amritraj,Borg and Connors! Ramanathan Krushnan had reached the Semi-Finals of Wimbledon once and ha had beaten the leading Contemporaries like Roy Emerson,Niel Fraser, etc. Their achievements are miles ahead of Sania [minus the Glamour and Youth?]

Sania's success, fame, attention and controversies

In sports India is far behind the rest of the world yet Indians have among the highest of expectations, whether in cricket or in Tennis or at least that's how it appears to be.

Sania has achieved success, fame, attention and controversies. Doesn't that explain why everyone is so jealous.

her lust getting better of her judgement
by on Sep 02, 2007 01:24 PM  | Hide replies

Sania%u2019s is a classical case study of lust and greed getting better of the reasoning and going on to the loser%u2019s side. No tennis player-male or female, wastes his (or her) energy(of which she is not having abundance) in doubles and mixed doubles when they are high up in the ranking and are having a realistic chance of doing better in slams. One can see for himself the singles ranking of other double players to confirm this. I do not know how to give this message to her for her sake as well as for her fellow country men. I thought Imran Mirza had more tennis sense. -Alok

No, he/she is not jealous. Its perfect sense to concentrate on one thing at a time. Its not possible for someone to play 3 games every day and still expect to win every match.
If she concentrated on singles only in us open atleast, the current form wud hv easily taken her to minimum QF stage which wud hv fetched her more WTA points and money(more celebrity status means more money through Ads and sponsors)

Alok,

Sania is losing in early rounds except few tournaments recently. You dont get so much money out of it. She would be probably playing doubles/mixed so that she can earn some more. Also, their family has to pay bills for the travel etc.

Tournament starts on monday, and she would be out of the tournament in wednesday. If she doesnot play doubles/mixed doubles, where will she get match practice? Also, she doesnot have a good coach, she needs to keep practising and hitting balls when she is out.

because they do not have self belief, want to make few quick bucks, leander and mahesh are their role model who without having any singles ranking are still able to make some money.

by Nirman on Sep 02, 2007 12:42 PM  | Hide replies

It is not an achievment. She is not doing much except losing in 2nd and 3rd round.
Gaon main ek ladka matrik fail hua to gaon wale were proud and this matrik fail was introduced very proudly to every one. Sania is much the same. If she wins a major tournament then she should be given arjun award. She keeps on losing and we keep her making a hero. we are proud of the fact that she reached upto 3rd round. with this mentality how can we win a major tournament in any event. Please be neutral . Sania has not done any thing great. though she is good among the indians ,she stands no where when it comes to world.

She is good among the not so good sports man and women. Like our biachung bhutia who can be considered ood but if he goes to Europe then he will have to play in 2nd or 2rd division.

So what i want to tell Mr Ashok and Loan shark is that though sania is good among the Indians she has no class when it comes to playing against the top 10 in the world.
She is just getting 35% where everybody is failing because no body is workign hard for exam. nothing great

even if she reaches rank no 20 it doesnot make any difference. She has to go beyond 3rd and 4th rounds. In cricket India has to beat Australia and South Africa and not bangladesh.
In hockey India has to beat germans, Australians and dutchs and not thailand and srilanka . we have to be at top and among the top 3 and not in top 30.

let her win one big tournament. donot live in fools paradise. she certainly has in her but please donot make her goddess for losing in 3rd round. get inspired from sharapova, william sisters and many other girls. I would want my kids to take them as role model and not some one who doesnot go beyound 3rd round.
sorry friend i donot agree with you.
If you want win gold medal take inspiration from someone who has won gold medal or atleast fought for it not for someone who is eliminated every time. Also she is no more young. In tennis most of the females starts their downward journey by 24-25. she has only 4-5 years.
God bless you.

take inspiration from kapildev/ganguly and not from some xyz cricketer
Facilities aab bharat main bhee hain. there are number of tennis courts and academys. Tennis aise hee koi garib log nahin khelte
