ICL will fail if they wont make it available to vast majority of cable viewers- Where is zee sports?
by cricketer on Dec 01, 2007 01:16 PM

We are from kerala having Asiant cable connection which is the biggest here. They are not offering zee sports here via cable. Only through set yop box or dish they give. Please do the necessary to convince them to relay it via cable so that vast majority of us could also watch. Otherwise we have no option other than to be satisfied watching ind-pak tests. Dont know where to post this to reach icl organizers so posted here somebody might take note.

I wish to see India in a football world cup. I hope we can achieve it.

It is my opinion that the best marketing vehicle of football in India would be the BCCI and not the current football federation. We only get to hear their names when some major cup is on and they send some 'experts' to study how the benefits could be implemented in India. These are just freeloaders!

Although the BCCI has not been able to create a topnotch team in cricket , nevertheless its marketing of the game has been phenomenol. What with cricketers cropping up from all over small town India. This has been its outstanding achievement.

It would be well if the government could send these dinosaurs of Indian football to extinction, and revamp the BCCI or even constitute some new body with some sort of collaboration with it!

There is only one chance! If we organize the foot ball world cup perhaps, we have a wild card entry to play in any of the groups as host nation.

If India has to qualify and get in to foot ball then its way to go. Atleast not for next 50 years.

Instead of professional league football, if college level football is strengthened, with competitions in it within India and other middle eastern/asian countires, then the talent that normally drifts to cricket could be utilized for a more physically demanding sport. Especially if a career guarantee in it could be financially assured to an extent. I am sure that Indian football at the collegiate level would be able to 'tackle' its near Asian counterparts.

Its very hard to create interest for soccer in India. This is because the levels of stamina required in soccer is far more than what is required in India's passion -- Cricket. Lets accept this -- Cricket can't be upstaged by any other sport in India. The first thing that is essential for soccer to succeed in India is the inflow of funds. The AIFF should somehow arrange funds and put in academies like the Tata Football Academy. The game should also be encouraged in schools, and if possible school teams should be taken to European nations for soccer tours. However, one has to be insane to believe that people in India will put their money in a sport other than cricket, simply due to the return on investment logic.
The situation is somewhat like asking Brazilians to take up cricket. They wont! Soccer is in their blood, and in ours its Cricket.

Lets hope that other countries WILL NOT take cricket seriously ! if the real sporting nations take cricket seriously, we will be ranked 150th in the world ranking... we should request BCCI and other cricket bodies not to make cricket too popular coz that will be very hurtful for our national ego !

Indians does not have the stamina or other physical attributes to succeed in the game of football. Considering the huge population that we have, we are a big zero in physical sports... sad

Satyam & World Cup
by franclin mathew on Nov 30, 2007 02:43 PM  | Hide replies

Unfortunately for Indians, Indian media hardly give any importance to Satam's involvements in the upcoming two world cups.

India media is still in deep gutters and only know about Bollywood and cricket.

This is a real tragedy. Unless and until India media start covering other sports than this SILLY cricket, India will remain immature state

Indian media gives reasonable coverage to football. If our people don't encourage the game much what media can do?
