there is doubt in my mind

I saw this match, and if i am his opponent i would ask his racket to check it is legal. He is making unbelievable shots with it. It is the racket does the magic. ( also he seems more agile than usual, after Martina Hings, with (cocaine use) things are not that convincing for Nalbandian

Surprise from Nalbandian
by Sunil Yande on Nov 05, 2007 11:53 PM

It is indeed a surprising upsurge from Nalbandian.
He is no doubt a solid player; however he seemed to be a grinder and wall - only returning each ball. However, his service seems to have improved drastically, and just happens to be in great touch. It is not easy beating Rafa 6-0 and certainly not easy beating Federer twice in a row and account for others like Djokovitch in the same tournament. And Nalbandian sure has a lot of stamina. It would be interesting to see if he maintains his touch and game up to the start of the Australian Open... It is always nice to have a wider field of likely contenders at a grand slam - it brings out the best in the players - most of all Federer!

It was a treat to watch Nalby play...though it pained my heart to watch Rafa lose!! But what a match!! Sheer domination....cudnt hv been any lethal fr Rafa! Though the beginning was tight, nerves were @ complete test and Nalby emerged far, far superior. I am happy to see Nalby gaining ground slowly...he's a fab player. N his first serves r simply mind-blowing!! I think every other player (including the top seeds) must watch out for him...he's gonna be very, very dangerous in future!! But a fantastic match....loved it!!

Good Comeback
by prakash mohanasundaram on Nov 05, 2007 11:25 AM  | Hide replies

Nalby has been a great player for sometime now. Maybe he didnt win any Slams yet but if you look at his past resords, He has been to the semis of all Grand slams and of course he reached the final of Wimby in 02. Since fall last year till this fall he was getting indifferent results. He was injured for a while and was never really fully fit. He had put on lotta weight and was in contention for being the fattest tennis player ever. But Nlaby has come back well. He is fitter, stronger and his game is rocking again. An injury free 2008 season would promise great things from Nalby. Manybe Nalby could even break the strangle hold Fed and Butt Picker have on Grand slams. I would say Nalby and Joker would be the ones to watch in 08

That is what happens to a good player like Nalbandian when the likes of Federer are around.

Sure Nalby beat Fed twice this year and once in not so distant past but in Grand slams, Nalby was always 3rd seed in his peak and he had to face Fed in the semis. Not a promising draw that...

If Nalby were born in another era, he would have been one of the best hard court players ever..
