Case of Out of sight, out of mind for Fedex?
by ssbmat on Nov 03, 2007 04:12 AM

I agree with Federer that Nalbandian's backhand was playing wonders. But I disagree that the surface would have had such an effect. Shouldnt be making such excuses at this level, it takes the sheen off Nalbandian's victory. If anything it is a shortcoming that Fedex has to overcome.
Also, it is curious to see the pattern. Guillermo Canas disappeared 2 years ago and did not play the top players-so Fedex didnt have a chance to meet him and lo and behold, he defeated Fedex back-2-back in Spring. Now, Nalbandian has been "out" of top-10 for a while and didnt figure in the finals of Majors for a year or so, where Fedex mostly met the likes of Nadal, Joko, Roddick, Blake and others. And so Fedex seems to have been surprised with the improvement in Nalbandian's level of play. I am sure he will figure him out soon.
Of course, others are figuring out Federer as well, so that is a good incentive for him to perform at the highest level.

Once in a while

These defeats happen once in a while. The champion has been playing three tournaments back to back and its understandable. Moreover Nalbandian was really inspired and played really well. The surface was slow unlike the usual indoors which definitely affected Federer's natural game too.

Only Nalbandian and Nadal are anywhere near to beat Federer. Another guy is that Greek player who can match Federer stroke for stroke.

Not Greek, Serbian Novak Djovick.
Yeh. Still we can hope the Men's Tennis gets competitive with the kind of form of the above players continues and some more young turks come along to beat FedEx.
But today Federer is the undisputed Champion of Tennis.

Great to learn that federer is being beaten by some one! Though i am fan of him, I think he should not be the only dominent/master. well Mr.federer, i think time to get some more practice and beat Mr.David.
Ofcourse not tough thing for you, but i wish you to get one french open and break the jinx set by sampras. All the best!

David Nalbadian always had the potential.he had defeated pete sampras once en-route to a grand slam semis.
Now with his game prevailing over federrer, he joins the league with Rafel nadal who has posed challenge to federrer so often. And with serbian Djokovic Novak raising his game everyday ///we defnitely have match ON!

I am a gr8 fan of federer, he is a real class act, but any sport is exciting when there is no absolute domination.
