Not much good players around..
by Venkata Subramani on May 21, 2007 09:07 AM

There are not much good players around in Tennis now like before. There were days when Lendyl, Mats Wilander, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg were playing..Later the days of Pete Sampras was wonderful... Now I do not find that level of players...

Your matches with Nadal are memories to be treasured. One using his extraordinary stamina and court coverage and the other out-thinking him with wonderful placings and timely aces.

Keep it up, both of you.

Who wants to watch womens tennis? It is like drinking hot and watery Cocacola. Sania Mirza top seed in Morocco - imagine the standard of tennis served to the poor unsuspecting public. The only reason I watch her play is because she is good looking.

Sania is from Hyd., not Chennai!

Anyway, it's good that Federer defeated Nadal on clay, that too quite emphatically. Now, the French Open would be interesting.

Tennis ka King koun... Roger Federer
by Vikas D on May 21, 2007 05:13 AM

What if they were playing 25 (Monte Carlo, Rome, Hamburg and Roland Garros) matches per year on Grass and 12 matches on clay (Halle and Wimbledon) ... Fed would have had 100 match winning streak by now..since no one has beaten him on grass since July 2002.. (Mario Ancic, 1st round Wimb)... think about it..

Emperor is back!!!!!
by Dragon Cares on May 21, 2007 03:45 AM  | Hide replies

Hello guys:
Emperor is back with perfection!!!!! And ready to capture the Roland Garros. Federer perfectly answered all those critic people who downgraded him after few defeats in the past 3 months. Defeating Nadal at the clay court final is the perfect answer (and that too 2-6, 6-2, 6-0) to shut their mouths.
Never, never, never under estmiate Federer in any surface; there might be some off-days but certainly not finished.
Hats Off Federer, go ahead and enjoy your game; we all here to enjoy the artistic play from your wrists.

Great comeback by the champ. Nadal is only made for clay. If people think that Fedefer's victory here is a fluke, let them realise that Nadal's reaching the Wimbledon final last year too was the same.

Nadal is just 20, if you look at his game, I don't think he's going to last beyond 26, just look at him, running from pillar to post, never ever comes to the net, why, in yesterday's match, he wasn't even attacking Roger's 2nd serve, he was staying way behind the baseline for the slow 2nd serve, which dipped by the time it reached Nadal...

Hello:
You foget one thing; when Federer was 20, there were Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi. Now, when Nadal came into picture, both those greats were retired and that made Nadal's job more easy to claim #2 status. Nadal might be great but dont degrade Federer's achievements; remember Federer thrashed Pete Sampras in 5 sets of 4th round in Wimbledon-2001 and sent a notice to the World. Only very two defeated the Pistol Pete in 5 sets (Andre Agassi in 1995 Australian Open Final and Federer in 2001-Wimbledon 4th round). No way Nadal could match Federer in all so surfaces.

though rafa has had a shocking loss today,he is soon to prove that federer's victory was a fluke..i hope nadal learns a good lesson out of this loss n defends his french open title..for nadal....
it is really humiliating for all ur fans rafa..especially for me ...i am a die hard fan of yours...today i somehow felt that rafa's winning streak would be snapped...but i prayed that i should be wrong...i probably would not have minded much if igor andreev would have beaten rafa..but against federer he has to remain unbeatable...in fact i still can't believe that federer has done it....i am very very dissapointed...i am still his fan....i am confident that rafa can bring up another winning streak on clay..rafa has to remember that the next tournament is the biggest one...the french open and it is a big challenge for him now to defend his title...pls do win rafa or else i swear i will stop watching tennis..n i would love it if rafa would avenge this loss against federer by winning a grasscourt match against him...only then all us fans will be relieved..rafa is still unbeatable..though he lost today he is still 7-4 against federer..
congrats federer for ur win but beware of nadal..n all the best dear rafa....we are still pinning our hopes on you..
rafa fan forever..

Dear Kulkarni

I appreciate your ardent support of Nadal. But, no can accept ur saying that federer won by fluke. u r saying as if he is a legend by fluke.

Federer is federer and nadal is nadal ie, No.2 comes after No.1

Mr. Kulkarni,

Your email stinks of ignorance. You may be a big fan of Rafa but Federer is the artist. He is the emperor. He has one 3 grand slam titles and he is going to win the french open too. That is going to make a grand slam. Just watch out!

I dont know how old you are but I have observed kids like Rafa because of his hair do and grinding style of play. But there is no greater pleasure than watching an artist at work and that is what Federer brings to tennis. He is what Van Gogh is to paintings.

Even Federer fails to win the French open, he is still the artist, the genuis, the ballet dance.......I can go on and on.

Let us hope we have an exciting final awaiting us at the French Open.

Hari

grow up kid, this is sport and winning and losing is an integral part. hasnt federer lost to canas in recent past .........but we have not heard such rantings from any die hard federer fans.......basically they all accept that even a artist can have bad days.......so what if rafa had one......i am sure he will have more wins in his career//// both of them are artists in their own ways and we should admire them for what they are......

nadal is good with clay, but i guess he isnt upto scratch on grass. but it makes up for a great fight, or else we'd be having another boring streak of wins from fed.

Mr.souhard kulkarni , whatever u write should make some sense, Federer is a living legend, Nadal has to go far to reach the maestro.
It is understandable that you are an ardent fan of nadal but he is no where near the tennis
giant (i.e.) Federer. To simplify it for you, "Federer is Don Bradman of Tennis".

rafael nadal is 7-4 up on federer because he makes the finals only in clay court tourneys and not on other surfaces often as he is beaten by lesser ranked players.

King Federer displayed amazing skills and fightback qualities to defeat Prince Nadal in his favorite surface. Clay Court Champion Nadal did well to win the first set but Federer came strongly to win second set and finally demolishing Nadal with 6-0 in the third set.

Federer executed his plans to perfection in second and third set, totally outclassed Nadal.

I hope Federer and Nadal continues to contribute to their great rivalry. There seems to be a daylight difference between this two players and other players.

True, Can't describe better than this-King & Prince.

Can compare Fed with Sampras/McAnroe but Nadal-? simply no.

No way, Federer proved that he could play on any surface (won Australian Open, Wimbledon, US-Open and reached Roland Garros Final) like only few who accomplished that (like Lendl, Edberg, Agassi, Courier. If Nadal could reach the finals of all 4 Grand Slams, then, he could be called as 'Prince' or 'King'. Until then, he needs to prove his capability in all the surfaces.

federer is god's gift to tennis. There was a time when sampras, richard krajicek, philippousis, ivanicevic etc were raising questions if tennis balls had to be made softer to take power out and bring in some skill. that has died down since federer began to swing his wand to such beautiful effect. he is just fantabulous! hope doesn't go bjorn way ... hope nadal will do the job of keeping federer interested in his tennis. I hope federer wins French open and Nadal wins Wimbledon this time!

Now thats a die hard sports fan speaking. I love to watch Federer and think he is the best. But i won't mind him losing as failure would be a tonic for some one like Federer (or Nadal) to keep trying to improve and become better and making it all the more fun for us..
