Congrats team India by beating china and exacting revenge. But dont we all think the the 5-4 scoreline was a bit too close. being a social hockey player, i have some comments.
what can improve 1. There were a fair amount of individual play in our style and times when a pass was needed, but our players tried to dribble around 3 or more chinese players.
2. The long pass is an effective pass if you know eho you are passing too. at times our playesr just hit the ball which went to a chinese players. we can improve on that.
3. Watching malaysia play against pakistan, we can learn from how ther moved the ball around the field betwen the LB, Stopper, RB to draw the opposition forwards.
4. the chinese penalty corner variations were good. we can try and get some deceptiveness into how we take penalty corners.
5. and lastly our attitude, we have this unhealthy way of opposing any decision given by the referee. this is the indian style of making a hue and cry about any decision. its not healthy and its not good to see how we recact to refrees decision although he was clearly right. please stop it. its bad.
this is just the beginning of the end of cricket.....just wait till the popularity of soccer kicks in...we just need to develop infrastructure of soccer stadiums in india..trust me cricket will be no where.

A great relief at this hour of sorrow, when our nation was put to shame by the rich cricketers in the recent WC. Hockey,being indias national game shoul atleast get its weightage and importance now.The Assn should think of bringing in foreign coaches now as in cricket and take the game to its glory.The game is virtually on the thresholdof death thanks to MrGILL, and an alround fresh look is necessary even at the Assn level as some sticky persons are still spending their life with Assn's money.India is looking for the day our team makes it to win the trophies as in the past when dedicated players like Mohd Shahid,Pillai Pargat,etc played their lifeout.Will the present team has the potentialand necessary training to repeat that? Heavens are not lost,call Ric Charlesworth and entrust the team to him, he will do wonders thru our boys. I congratulate the team fortheir display but it shudnt be regarded as revenge match, as the losses are our own making only.So Play right, win straight.

just have 5 world class soccer stadiums in each state.....broadcast live the matches between states.....make soccer a professional sport...you will see the popularity zoom.

lets see what happens.even i am seeing sudden change in indians.people are looking after football ,hockey, tennis,chess,golf and many other sports nowadays.
cricket will have to fight a lone battle for its survival in india in future.

you're kidding me. We have won 8 Olympic gold medals in hockey. Its not gained popularity for 70 years now.. you think anythings going to change?
Football is popular, but we cant play it. Bangladesh ranks higher in football than India. I think a lot of indians follow EPL and Champions league

I agree with you my friend Brijesh that now indians are looking at other games. But just watching games sitting in the home will nowhere improve india's global sport performance. Main problem is cultural of playing on ground is missing in Indian society. When that will happen believe me india will be on top.
Good win Indian team. In another news paper our coach Karvalho said that this win equalized the loss at Asiad. I am not being critical to coach but China is not our main rival, that we should say lke that.. But hey anyway, win is a win, enjoy and using this as motivation, keep moving towards apex. Good job team..
This is a good win and specially when Indian cricket is not doing well. People should focus on ther games too. This is the right time for other sports to show their positive skills and get the attention form govt. before it is too late.
Our national game Hockey should be improved. Today's performance seems to be very good. Come on Indians lets support our National game rather then a 1 day long lazy game cricket. But from message board we can see how cricket has an impact on the viewers.
Indian made great escape of defect from china, atlast India won 5-4 over China, though the score looks like penalty shoot out, Indian made to fight fot there Victory, it was a great fight for both teams to win, it looks like that Indias had to fight hard to register a win aganist the teams like china, we are nowhere to compare with teams like netherlands, germany, australia, koera etc, they are world class teams. If India want to regain the lost glory in Hockey they need to convert the penalty corners, they should try to make field field goals and they should try to make moves with short pass, there is too much dribbling and every player want to keep the ball for long time, they should try to make short passes and move forward. and most Imp is Indian players try to improve their fitness levels
