Quit
by chandergupt mehta on Mar 25, 2007 08:44 PM

I can do same thing that i will quit if India do not qualify - you have nothing to lose where as India and hockey will lose lot.

I think you will need to be transparent about your coaching and contract with GILL.

Look at Japan they were 9th at WC and 4th at Asian games. We were 11th and 5th.
I read Japanese coach interview he is open about the system and his goals.

You are taking short cut and saying you will quit and towing KILL /BILL line

Rope in former Olympians %u2013 yes you may but be clear about responsibility other wise it will be mess.

I am not sure you are clear what you want and it seems India may miss out Olympics 2008.

With India, NZ , England ( Likely ), Belgium , Japan , France , Malaysia to fight for 3 places %u2013 we may end up with Belgium , Japan , France and Malaysia .
We have been beaten by these teams in last 2 years. Show what you can do , plans , field goals , fitness , speed , etc .

I wait for your reply

The thought process of Shri Carvalho is to be admired !
by cajetan coelho on Mar 25, 2007 12:48 PM

In his peak years as player Carvalho used to be a reliable performer for club, state and country. That guy has played at the highest level for the country and has brought laurels to his teams for years.

It does make sense when he says the top coaching posts have to be in the hands of Indians and experts from overseas could be employed to provide inputs. Otherwise these so called "experts" are busy furthering their own agendas and consolidating their jobs. Indian sports associations end up paying them hefty salaries with no trophies to show except winning tons and tons of humiliations for selectors, boards and fans.

All the best, We can only believe you at present. We can trust you only when u deliver.
After loosing faith in Cricket, please do not disappoint the masses.

Joaquim, was one of the best midfielder who throws his heart for any match. He was called wall of the indian hockey team, especially when he use to guard the pakistan speedster samiullah.

what a coach..!?
by h r on Mar 25, 2007 12:12 AM  | Hide replies

What kind of a teacher says i'll quit teaching if my student's fail?? Is it the right attitude? He is showing he is a quitter before his job starts. Lol @ mr.gill and stupid new coach. U have a job carvalho sir , in that stint u can teach somethings , improve some skills. Instead if u think about futute, u r in a rut already. Even if India makes a start to improve..bow down our head. India was good, but thats past, now our hockey sucks . Bow down and accept that we suck and start over again. Start playing tactically like a team
Improve physical strength n try to improve each day. indians are never good in team games, try to learn how to play as a team.

Mr/Ms hr,
Hold your horses, and try to believe in what is possible, rather than have some empty brain decide your message to Mr. Carvalho. Anyone who follows the game knows what Joaquim meant to Indian Hockey when he was a part of it. Now, it is time he returns and gets us back to where it rightfully belongs. Go Joe, we are all behind you. Take us to the limit one more time.

AS a hockey lover we have right to know ..
its too long we have suffered we needobjective evidence we do not want only words -

"I need not make public my agreement with the IHF. Both (IHF president) KPS Gill and (secretary) K Jothikumaran have assured me of all necessary support in my endeavour. I have excellent support staff to realise my goals," he said.
