The only reason India is not occupying the last position in the rankings is due to the fact that they still have not played teams like Andorra,Lesotho, Nauru, Timbuktoo etc. With jokers like Munshi and Kehar Singh at the helm I will bet that soon we will be told that FIFA has refused to rank India as the game that they play cannot be classified as football at all.

With all the politics involved in sports in India don't be surprised if other sports head the same way as football. Hockey has already started going that way...we don't know how to respect our heroes...Even today Dhanraj Pillay can beat any youngster in fitness test but KPS Gill thinks otherwise...In cricket as well remember the performance and mental condition of team after that one day series in South Africa...But for those valiant efforts from Ganguly on those friendly the whole team might not have picked up and gained its momentum...now that it has people have again started raising their voices...if u will scruitnize the interviews of Chappels/Dravid's they clearly try to downplay ganguly's efforts by switching to "we" instead of "he"...aah y i m atalking all this
How many Teams are in the Ranking. 166. If Pakistan is Ranked 166, Indians will be Happy. Thats our Mentality. Always comparing with our neighbouring cousins

And, for the next ten years no country should be allowed to defeat India on the football field.
MAGHIA football players should be given more chanses to prove their talent, training and playing with foreign team with well mixed up as like in PHL wil solve the issue and raise the standard of Football in india or hand it to private organisation to represent the indian team..phir dekho jalwa football me..best of luck to the Indian teams in all form of sports

good use of uddu word "MAGHIA" :))
Bhaichung Bhutia is a nonsense on the field according to some reports. he behaves as a nonsense bully. we are void of stars and unless govt takes initiative at school level. no nono... unless PRIVATE SCHOOLS takes initiavite at their levels, held city championships for various sports India will languish behind in all sports (apart from those requiring individual brilliance) those also will not produce heaps of champions.
Even though I luv cricket a lot but it pains deep in my heart to see the FIFA ranking of India... Soccer is played by almost 180 countries and we are ranked 165... I am at loss of words why the hell Priya Ranjan dasmunshi is still the president from last 20 years with no improvements at all... Does no one have authority to question him?? I hope someone can hear cry of the citizens... All the national level clubs should also stop playing the game.. We all keep hearing East Bengal, Mohun Began, Sporting, Dempo etc.. playing all the year, but alas nationally they fail miserably... Sincere request to rediff too.... simply posting our comments here won't help anyone... wish media can put acorss citizen's cry to the government.. Media that voices and shows people's opinion so much in politics should give equal coverage to sports too other than cricket...
I sign off... feeling dejected that 1 Billion population can't produce 11 soccer players...

I think there the president is fully conscious of India's position in between Andorra and Lesotho when countries like Brazil r placed third, We r competing with Brazil in econimic prosperity,we cannot fall behind we have to catch up with them by moving fast. we must become no.1 either way on the zenith or the nadir.(pun intended, i'm with ur feelings) sukalp, hyd

Yes, you are right. Let us immediately fast track bestowing nationality on the many top level Brazil,Argentian and European players who are just at the margins of their respective national teams. Overnight, the a**Munshi can crow about the high standards of Indian football.
Thanks to the internal politics, regionalism, .....we are at 165th position. The more we progress in GREAT INDIAN POLITICS, regionalsim the more better we will be at 170, 180 or whatever is the last. LETS try to be last---a good slogan by world second most populous country, with good riches, with good wealth, with efficient NORMAL people, BUT WITH GREAT INDIAN POLITICIANS
