He is definitely one of the consistent world beaters or atleast in top 3. One incident which gave me goosebumps. I was studying in grad school in Colorado and I was teaching also, when one of my students told me that I resembled Vishwanathan Anand. I asked him how he knew about Anand. He told me that his kids were very much interested in Chess and they knew hime as he was no. 2. He told me that he believed Anand could beat anybody. I explained that probably since I was also from Chennai, there is some resemblance. This was 11 years ago. He is still ruling!
He put India onto the map of world chess. After him the other players are far behind. The new players Harikrishna and Sasikiran are doing okay, but not near the class of Anand yet. Hope theygrow to this level soon and Anand help them in doing so!
