It is a great match for the orissa steelers as defeated strong ShereJalandhar which was a favourite team. The win also mark of the adivasi hockey players' devotion towards the game of hockey. The need of the hour is that Government provide all facilities and infrastructure to the adivasi region of Chhotanagpur consisting the part of Jharkhand, Orissa and Chhattisgarh where hockey is most popular. At the moment fact is that Government thinks for hockey only to the Northern part of the country. At least 10 astro turf ground is needed to this reason. Can anyone here.... yours Sushil Lakra
Well-knit team with Steely defence, skillful hockey played by attacking forwards, strong midfield and imaginative and very neat play supported by some fantastic foreign players including the resolute goalkeeper, led by one of the greatest in the game today and coached by an enthusistic coach made the winners the only deserving team in the whole tournament. Many many congrats to the Orissa steelers for proving their hockey mettle and making their state for once proud of their highly-neglected tribal population. Keep it up , dillip and ur great team. sukalp, hyd
sHERE-E jALANDHAR, A GOOD TEAM THEY MAY BE, BUT DESERVED TO BE BANNED FOR THE NEXT TOURANAMENT. IF THE PLAYERS OF A TEMA CAN GO BY THE UMPIRE'S VERDICT THEY SHOUD NOT BE PLAYING. I HAVE BEEN NOTCING THAT OF LATE IN MOST DOMESTIC TOURNAMENTS MISBEHAVIOUR IS BECOMING QUITE COMMON. THIS TENDENCY SHOULD BE COMPLETELY NIPPED IN THE BUD. THE UMPIE SHOUD BE GIVEN MORE POWERS TO HANDLES SUCH ITUATIONS AND THROW MISBEHAVING PPLAYERS OUT OF THE FIELD, HOWEVER A BIG PLAYER THE OFFENDER IS.
I think it was a goal which was wrongly given. I don't know how the video umpire also gave the goal. It was clearly visible that (a)the players were not ready (b) the ball was not dead-stopped (c) the umpire whistled after the ball was pushed. This is not done.

part and parcel of the game..this is not the first time or the last time for things like this to happen..i enjoyed the game and Steelers deseve a pat on there back for great fight
Many many congratulations to the Orissa Steelers. This is a great work considering the fact that this is their first entry in the elite division. Last year they were the winners of the plate division. As always Dilip Tirkey was super solid and kept his players motivating. This is also goes well with the culture of Hockey in the tribal belt of Orissa which has challenged the might of Punjab. Bravo and keep it up Boys. I only hope that they get at least one percent of the publicity of what the Cricketers get.

my congratulations to Orissa Steelers too. If they keep playing like they did in this series then publicity and monetary benefits will fall in place. they won 40 lakh cash award after winning the title, but question is "consistency"..we want Steelers to be consistent and not make it look like a "fluke"..Best of luck

The entire lot of Punjab origin players, officials and their chamchas should be banished to ladakh and forced to play/officiate/blow horns in ice hockey. This is not the first time Sardars and Punjus are creating a ruckus on the field of play and indulging in manhandling umpires. I say, ban them for life.

lol...but true
BTW, what is the procedure of selection of this president?..cause right from the days i hv started following sports, KPS Gill is the president of Hockey Federation and Suresh Kalmadi is president of Olympic Association
putting aside the controversy, by far it was one of the best games i have seen in the indian domestic circuit. it was played at great pace and lovely hockey was on exhibition. Kudos to the steelers for their sterling performance.....truly- 'GARV NAHIN THO KUCH NAHIN'
