Miandad is anti-Indian. He arranged a marriage between his daughter and Dawood Ibrahim's son. That's the worst insult he can give to India.

I hope he has not inspired too many Indians.

I don't understand what this has to do with Secularism. Marriage is an institution in countries like India and Pakistan. Especially in arranged marriages, people give a lot of thought about which family they select - rather than which bride or groom they select.

As I see it, Miandad has selected Dawood, who is a merciless person that has killed many hundreds in India and is looting the Indian people through his mafia activities.

So I think your understanding of the issue is totally lacking. So YOU don't call me "unsecular", especially since your country has forcefully converted most people from other religions into islam. You don't have to look much beyond your cricket team for examples.

Aisam is not the first Pakistani to Qualify for Wimbledon
by on Jun 26, 2007 11:51 PM  | Hide replies

Aisam is the third Pakistani to qualify for wimbledon. There was Haroon Rahim in 1976 who qualified for Wimbledon. And Khawaja Saeed Hai for three years from 1954-1956 played wimbledon.

The Asian rising star is moving well. We need to encourage players from our continent to aim high. His participation in the main draw is good news for many. Well done.

Hey guys, lets cheer up this player.

Though I do not rate Pakistan as a friendly nation, I would like to cheer this player for his hard work. After all what you do and what you achieve ranks above your religion or nationality. This is incredible.

I hope this also encourages women in Pakistan to take up sport. Though I am hopeful that Sania Mirza must have encouraged many Pakistani muslim women to look out of their traditional veil, I would be more happy to see them finding an icon of inspiration within their own country.

I think Pakistan could achieve much more in sports or whatever field if only it could involve the rest 50% of its population wholeheartedly. I am sure had this been a woman things would not have been received well in Pakistan. Or that she must have been asked to play wimbeldon wearing a burka.

Mr Qureshi has lit the torch, may somebody in Pakistan make it brighter.

all best wishes to Mr Qureshi.

PS : Its heartening to see Pakistanis reading and leaving comments at this 'indian' website. This should encourage greater understanding. However this seems to be a one way traffic. When I visit leading Pakistani dailies, the news over there is just trash. I request Pakistanis to press for greater freedom of press in their country.

Ashish!
I appreciate ur comments and but u was a little wayward in saying that Pakistan isnt a friendly country!By friends mmeans freinds with local populace! politically i have differences being a Pakistani and i assure u people in pakistan wud love to help an indian more than a brit or a yankee! Sports isnt politics where u count on votes, sports is wat u count ur abilities on!no one votes for u to get into a national side like politics! Both our countries hatred towards each other is due to the media thing that goes on!u hear pakistan attacked in Pak media ull hear india attacked,India killing kashmiris and indian media says "atankwadi killing pandits " Thats a different perspective and thats ok given the nationalism involved!i respect it too!but communal orgins of any thing is bad!and associating Islam pakistan and terrorism does create a rift in indian muslims! Sania an indian isnt appreciated by me just becoz shes a muslim (after all she doesnt abide by muslim code of conduct) but by her sheer hardwork shes #34 and i applaud her for her hardwork given the cultural issues of the region. Regarding Pakistani women, they are every where,we have a squash champ she is doing great, but the problem is that Pak media isnt that strong as indian,u have big media market and we arent!so even if sania sneezes thats a news! Just like a bomb blast in Pak is a news!Pakistan has 10 fighter pilots in airforce.the sword of honor winner of military was a woman(that wasnt a news)

its just becoz positive things outta pakistan and even india dont get coverage!the things that get coverage is sajnay dutts trial,Sunita Willaims that doesnt affect normal life!
The veil u spoke about,is a religious duty, and most of the women in pakistan do it themselves, some are enforced upon, but that is not forcing them back in sports, its actually the collective culture thing that women think that sports for boys. Two of our national champs in badminton are women,1 table tennis champ is a woman, and its the same in india coz we share the culture, indian women too cover themselves up but muslim ladies have been targetted coz of veil due to political reasons!u cant wear a muslim cap but u can a jewish cap openly!u cant put on veil in europe and can wear black fdress code that jews wear!its double standrads of politics! Now if u say pakistan shud have swimminf team, then that is not possible! know the reasons coz for those ladies its sports but for us its a treat to watch some flesh!Look at Sania, she plays, has given india some name, but what people talk abt is her curves!thats indecency coz we dun want it for our sisters and yet do it for ashwariya rai rani mukerjee etc. isnt that double standard? that we can lok at these womens pics that shows loads of curves an yet dont want our own families to adopt that? Islams message is simple "do what u see others doing if not then dont do it ur self"

Indian team came to pakistan in 2004,i was the in pakistan,an u wont believe it,outside Qaddafi stadium lahore people were taking guests home and some were shunning them not to go to a hotels, they had met just on that day! people to poeple contacts is what i am speaking about. I am in america being a doctor ,i work with hindus (that in start called me a terrorist-LOL ) u know y coz of ignornace and no contact!when i interacted with them they told me ur very good and secular and i laffed coz it just took a month or so to change a mind!i told them that if u think being a muslim (an orthodox conservative) i dun appreciate hinduism then ur mistaken, islam gives real big respect to other religions, most of the people think that we spread through Sword, thats a political gimic(dun take me baised) Mughals,Ghauris,Ghazaniz,Suri's,Abdalis wasnt a muslim invasions, they were political invasions, grab land, and yes being muslims it were termed Muslims spread of islam.the message was relayed by people that are buried in Ajmer sharif where even sikhs and hindus go!but for political reasons they term it as islam is the last monotheist religion that came so its ok to have differences, even Mohd Bin Qasims invasion of Debal(modern karachi) and defeating Raja Dahir was a political thing,it wasnt made to spread islam, becoz dahir's people had abducted muslim caravans.and how qasim was successful? coz of our caste system.

caste system. We shud admit it.I am a Rajput, must have converted some ages ago,but i admit the caste system lead the conversions, even nehru an brahmin accpted in his book, even Gandhi. But when historians write they have their own political baises involved. My father was a POW in 1971 war,in 1965 war he was involved in attacks on Dwarka, but i tell u,meet a army navy or airforce guy, they repsct each others countries and men, even being a pakistani, and gettin some harsh treatment in camps,my father told me that this happens,if we had them we wud have done the same. Its a military code that a major will interogate a major and a general vs general, its never broken.and one candid thing came up ma mind that my father told me, he said that muslim laborers used to come in ca,ps to work,so pakistani army men used to ask them for screw drivers and stuff to cut barb wires in rder to run,but they declined by saying "no ur are our captives we wont let u run" LOL cool isnt it? muslim vs muslim!many ran from camps some succeeded some didnt!thats war!when it ends it ends!!!!!

Now i told my hindu frnds that there are many hindus in pakistan, they laffed at me,untila pakistani hindu doctor came and told them and they accepted, asked him abt the treatment in pakistan for which like a nationalist said "we love pakistan" and when he told them that in Sind province,in his med school 30-40 percent docs are hindus, they celebrate Holi an stuff! We have Nankana sahib Gordwara, Panja sahib,no one ever tried to harm them even in the animosity among sikh muslims during partition. the most loved people in pak punjab are sikhs!u wont believe!coz we share a common blood!a culture!Pak is renovating a Hindu temple in salt ranges KATAS RAJ,L K Advani laid foundation stone!an new islamabad airport is named Gandhara International coz of Gandhara civilisation!but all u hear will what? that pak is persecuting them!( THATS WHAT IS CALLED POLITICS) coz any one can bring examples of each others persecution, ill say this ull say that...
what i believe and what is Islams message is "come to common terms..if one wants to florish" this all aside!
news are always dirty coz they get attention and media needs them just like it was a hype that Woolmer has been killed and even pakistani team was implicated, but havent seen the news that Woolmer died a natural death the same intensity! its show the biasness of the media!!!
