Nadal-the best....has no rival
by Saji Chandran on Jun 11, 2007 07:03 PM  | Hide replies

Federer's previous victory against Nadal 2 weeks back has proved to be a fluke. He just can't beat Nadal on clay and he's No.1.....strange....Anyways Nadal....the legendary Nadal has done it again, the young champ doesn't seem like losing unless Federer bribes him or 'fixes'(not match fixing) him before the match....Well done Rafa, teh undisputed legend of Clay at the tender age of 21. Federer is only the second best as well as millions out there....

if nadal is a legend, so is kuerten, albert costa and gaudio... think abt it... Nadal gets his name only by having federer as the opponent... otherwise he aint got nothing so much as a name... LEGENT??? My FOOT - LEG-END... :)

I think u only know about French Open. For your information, Nadal can play only in clay where the court is very slow and he can run around and return all the balls easily. He cannot win on any other courts and he has never won any other tournament and has been beaten by even small players in other court. Wheras Fedrer wins in all the courts except clay and in clay also he is beaten only by Nadal. U just need to see the atp points to see why he is No.1, Nadal is No 2 by a looong margin, even if he wins 5 tournaments in a row he can catch Federers points. Better keep yourself updates man.

u better keep urself updated....agreed that clay is slow n u can move around easily.....but if u know tennis....u shud know that returning a ball on clay is the most difficult as the pace changes n u have to hit with more power....n power is wat feddie doesn't have as much as nadal....rafa simply streches fedex into long rallies n fedex gives in....plus rafa's superb groundstrokes coupled with his power is simply too tough for fedex to handle...fedex wins on grass where hittin a ball does not need as much power as on clay....so u better keep urself updated abt tennis n surfaces on wich it is played...

Mr. Souhard.. thats wht iam telling.. nadal can play only in clay because he is young and healthy and can run around and return all the balls even if its brilliant placements by fedrer, wheras he can play in other courts because he dosent have any placements or fedex shots with him.. so he loses to even average players.. he is never going to be no.1.. he will be no1 in clay only and there have been many players like this who plays in clay only..

Fed beats nadal 6-0 in a set in grass and recently in hamburg on clay... and he reaches like 10 grand slam finals.... nadal will never win a aussie or us or wimbledon in his life... ald clay season is way too long... he should play all surfaces and win in clay to be a complete player... ask him to win elsewhere... he sure is a GREAT CLAY court player... no doubt.. spanish warrior and king of Clay

well sed anjali...n mr. mct host ...pls name an average player who has beaten rafa on other surfaces....n by the way....on hard courts where fedex plays so well, fedex lost to canas "twice"....n canas was playin tennis aft 15 months....so nadal is a legend n he is so young...he vil cum up on other surfaces too n at the same time vil always reign on clay...

are fede's chances going dim on clay. i dont think so.
this year it seemed he knows how to beat rafa but just could,t execute.
he's gonna master the clay-play and will not only beat rafa next year but i think he'll thrash him the "Fede" way.
(honestly i think this and i'm not a usual Fede fanatic :) )

by Balaji Krishnamoorthy on Jun 11, 2007 04:49 PM

They both are Solid Players in the History of Tennis, apart from that they are very good friends, Its wonderfulll to watch these players reaching the Finals almost in all grandslams....
But both have different Mindsets, Fede looks very relaxed where rafa looks like a tiger, If you want these two players to meet in next conce'tive finals, better not to compare them, Every one is having their own style this i have it from Fede,rafa... Also looking for some one who beat Fede in grass and Rafa in Clay... will see, final word Always world has its alternatives.......

Please read carefully before commenting "I know I can do it, that's for sure. If anybody can beat Rafa, then it's me" This is the poisitve out look of a champion. Try to catch the spirit. Catch the report "Federer did not seem devastated after failing once more to beat the gritty Spaniard on clay. On the contrary, the Swiss looked his usual, relaxed self."

exactly, priyansh. this proves no matter how gr8 & genial u r, a defeat hurts. & it hurts even more if the record with the other guy is 8-4, while yr record against the rest is in the range of 5-0 & upwards.
this is just a loser's bravado. if he had been a true champion, he wud hv given credit to rafa for whipping him the way he did, kept his mouth shut & beat him the next time around. federer is just used to easy outings on the court & now he is finding it difficult to accept the fact that on clay he is definitely not "the man".

And what does he mean by this: ""Rafa's the toughest guy on clay", said Federer, who missed many opportunities and suffered physically against the energetic Spaniard.

"I knew that I would have to take my chances", he added. "I created some but I failed to convert them.

"He served better, made fewer unforced errors and I couldn't really play the way I wanted from the baseline. It was tough but I think he played an excellent match and deserved to win."

Is that not giving credit? Read the full article, or don't quote selectively.

ashok,
thats the way loser's give credit - reluctantly. there is not whole heartedness in federer's so-called credit to nadal. he is doing it cos he can't deny the fact that despite a billing of being the best in the world, he got whipped.

How do you differentiate "wholehearted" and "halfhearted" credit, just from his press statement? :-) He didn't get whipped; he gave a good fight. If Federeer is not the best in the world, then who is? He reaches the finals at least in all the grand slam. Nadal loses by 3rd or 4th round in others. Ten Grand Slams and still he is not the best? I wonder who you rate the best today.

I must remind you when comparing fedx with rafa that, rafa is just 21 and already has reached 4 finals and won 3 at that age fedx had only even quarters of any slam so rafa is the best and will overtake him sooner or later

It was an incredible match. Both the players putting their best of tennis. But once again Nadal cleaned it up. After the second set, FedEx looked wary and lost his touch. Had he clinched the third set...it would have been great. Anyways..let's hope he wins the Golden Slam (Four Grand Slams and Olympic Gold, that's what Steffi Graf did in 1998 ) in 2008.

Andre Agassi has won all the four grandslams and olympics gold medal like his wife Steffi Graph has done, but not in the same year like her in 1988. He is the fifth player to do so in the history of mens tennis. I always felt he had played good tennis on all the surfaces eventhough he could never dominate like some other players on some specific surfaces. Now he is doing great charity work in Las Vegas for underprevileged kids. He will be true champion in everything for ever. Hey guys please don't think that I am comparing him to anyone. I just wanted to mention his great achievements as I have never seen any one here mentioning few words about him.

Exactly said. Y'day Federer had so many chances but failed to convert them into his advantage. Had he converted his breakpoints in the 1st set itself, it could have been a different story. Federer didn't concentrate/focus on the game y'day. Had only he played in the way he thrashed Davydenko in the SF, there might not have any chance for Nadal to hold the trophy. Unfortutnately, it didnt happen. Federer needs just self-confidence and motivation while playing against Nadal on the clay courts. Certainly Fedex will hold the trophy in 2008 Roland Garros. He has the potential, he has the firepower, he has the ability; just lacking motication and concentration, that's all. He will conquer the Paris soon.
