At least Paes is moving ahead even now. Sania does what she can do best - losing. See http://soonavala.livejournal.com - this guy tracks her record of losing. Great comments.

With all due respects, Sania has probably done more for the country than you or I combined.
It's a well known fact that unless it's cricket- that too on the international circuit, sports in general receives very little attention, leave alone resources in India compared to say- the former USSR.
There's no public sector initiative to nurture sports talent and official attention into sports talent development is lukewarm at best. And domestically organized circuits are a joke, especially in Tennis.
Despite that, and a relatively young age, Sania Mirza still climbed to the International tennis stage as a contender (even if not a major one).

Sania is a natural player. On her day she can beat any ranked player in the world. We Indian should feel proud of her. And yes being stunningly beautiful is again gift of the God. May God give her the stength to make country more proud.

Then who is there to replace her? She is an Icon and will remain till some other women player comes forward and replaces her. One should not be jealous of her acievements, charm and being an icon

i am not against to her really, is it anything wrong with we are expecting good from her. If she is professionally a model, i am really very big fan of her, but she is a player, she should perform..right

Surely a player. I haven't seen her hit the modeling biz in a major way, even if she can.
It's not her fault if our government is busy "disinvesting" instead of spending more on nurturing folks like Sania & other aspirants in the domestic sporting scene.
Our hockey team's performance is a clear indicator, even if hockey was conceived in India as a sport.
Instead of telling our players to marry or act in Bollywood movies, it'd be better if we as a people pressured our government to do more for sports. If we are that concerned about sports, that is...
look how many hav actually participated in d discussion.great sport like tennis is dying. players like sania were adding to the woes by performing pathetically in world arena.
people should understand that sania is a mediocre tennis player and too much shudnt b expected from her.
sania's class was evident on the last singles match where she was thoroughly outclassed by an hard hitting euro girl who pummeled aces after aces.sania was lumbering most of the time pathetically.

so do you eman that Indians should not participate in any sport. There are no genuine world beaters in Indian sports, but then we wont have any till somebody like Sania shows that it is possible to participate & compete.
Sania baby...cheer up...you are our Icon and better luck next time.... in the meanwhile practice, practice and practice..., ofcourse take care of your health too.
