Federer's win
by Santhanam Krishnan on Jun 06, 2007 11:51 AM

The power tennis regime has not produced a men's grand slam champion yet. I wish he does prove to be an exception. Though the game has been producing high calibre players more, the grip on the game is shifting from the the so called traditional bastions.

Both are great
by on Jun 03, 2007 11:58 PM  | Hide replies

I think its stupid of some people pulling down the attitudes of Federer and Nadal, and their abilities. There have'nt been a more worthy number 1 & 2 in as long as i can remember, in terms of attitude. Both are humble, straightforward, with an extreme competitive drive ... and i don't remember a Wimbledon champ in recent times (Bjorg ofcourse an exception), who is knocking on the doors french open so often and strongly, and simlarly can't remember an out and out Clay court champ whose able to play in the top league on the other surfaces.

Cant agree more with you. Both are truly great champions and we are priveleged to see them meet so often. That keeps the spectators interest intact too till the very last match of the tournament. and to top it all off they give credit to each other as and when its due. we are truly honored to see these two champions fight it out so often.

me too agree with this....especially this line
"There have'nt been a more worthy number 1 & 2 in as long as i can remember".....coz typically No.1 bags all the limelight...while the others in the top ten just figure in news articles. However these two are really exemplary & truly competitive, a joy to watch them play each other

federer himself proved that he can beat nadal on clay court...he is really unstoppable no one can stop his winning power..sometimes luck may not be with him...

he is a great player...
a good player is one who can play both on grass and clay......federer is in that category...

according to nadal....he used to lose mathches in grass courts.....thats not a good player's sign.....
he is only consistent in clay court but not on grass....

fed is not at all like that..........
he is greaaaattt....even sampras has himself told about his talentt

dear girisankar
federer has been doin vel on clay only since last year...last year fedex made french final n nadal won...n nadal reached wimbledon final n fedex won....also last year fedex dint win any clay court atp event or master series n nadal did....n nadal didnt win atp title on grass n feddie did....so i think its equal...you cant under estimate nadal.....he is as competent as feddie...the diff. between them is fedex is more experienced than rafa...

Dear Souhard, forget abt clay n grass..how many matches Nadal has won on synthetic or hardcourt surfaces compared to Federe. The fact that Federer has lost only 6 matches since last year speaks of his ability. He is the God of tennis.

They say if one wins the battle in the mind then half the battle is won.
federer is truly a class player but this does not mean he is invincible.
if one starts off by thinking that 'i can beat him' one can surely do so.someone very strong mentally can stand a chance in this year's wimbledon.
i think he is simply not good enough on clay to win the french open.this was evident in his poor showing in the masters'tournament.

completely agree with you...i am happy that ders sumbudy other than me who feels that federer is beatable...of course he is not gud enough for french title...n i think once nadal starts gettin more comfortable n confident on grass...then he can snap federer's grasscourt streak as fedex ended nadal's on clay...safin n hewitt are others who can beat fedex...especially hewitt who has recently shown lot of grit n fightin spirit on clay ....so wats wimbledon for him even he is a master out der on grass...

He won the Hamburg masters (clay tournament) a record 4 times in 4 appearances. Last year he should have won the Rome Masters, but luck eluded him at the crucial moments. He is very good on any surface win to a slam and invincible on Grass.

This year it will be Federer here in Rolandgarros.

i agree.....Federer is beatable on clay. And then, he is such an arrogant guy and only talks of himself at the prize distribution ceremony. I remember the last time when Andy Roddick praised him at some Grand Slam final and in return, Federer just talked of himself.

Self centred people are not good for the game. I would prefer an eccentric genius, such as John McEnroe to this staid chap.

Hello,
what are you talking about? On & Off the court, Federer is humble, down-to-earth person. You may not know much about Federer and that's why you are talking like this. Have you ever read/heard on how Federer mixed with our Indian people last year when he visited Tsunami hit areas in Tamilnadu, India? He was so flexibile, easy to approach and with soft words; you better know the fact before tell anything. If you cant appreciate Federer for all his good nature, ability, gesture in both On & Off the court, better please be quit instead of throwing your words on him. Nobody is 100% perfect in this world and everbody has some negatives. Just appreciate the good things of a person instead of pointing the negatives. If you are 100% perfect in everything, then, you can point the negatives of everybody. East, West, North & South, Federer is 'The Great' with respect to humbleness, attitude, kindness, respectful, etc.

i agree with you that fedex is not arrogant....but wat u sed of nadal was very very wrong...wen nadal says that fediie can beat him on clay, pls remember nadal is NOT at all low in confidence...he is just spoken of the facts n after all its praise for ur dear federer...it shows rafa's modesty...why do you think that if a person speaks gud of others he is low in confidence.....n wen canas(if u know him)beat fedex in indian wells this year fedex said"the right guy won today"...i remember these words very well...i have written exactly wat feddie sed...vel now accordin to you wen fedex sed this sentence aft the match, dont u say that fedex is so low in confidence...if u can say so in nadal's case even i can say so abt federer....but no wat fedex n nadal sed of der respective opponents were true facts...n it shows der modesty n der respect towards other players...if u can't understand this then pls pls dont put on such silly comments about nadal...he is not arrogant n NOT AT ALL LOW IN CONFIDENCE....n same is abt federer...i repeat both nadal n feddie are very modest guys which is quite uncommon in men's tennis...n nadal for his age is a very very matured person...he is a really respected fellow for his on court superiority n of court simplicity n modesty...

Nadal is a great player, no doubt about it. If one can beat Federer on any court, then it has to be Nadal. Sheer force, agressive play mixed with superb talent possessed by Nadal can only beat the King of Tennis, the Federer.

Chump means "A stupid or foolish person; a dolt" as per the online dictionary. If that is what you think about Nadal (without doubting your opinion about Federer), I request you to wait till they clash with each other. Our other friend Armando has told you what I really meant.
