Saniya will do well in Wimbleton. YaY.
by C Kr on Jun 04, 2007 02:31 PM

Because her game is suitable for grasscourt, fast surface with speed,ok.So let us wait to see and she will practice in grass warmups, ok. If you lose French early, the bright side is you can get a headstart in the grass season.
Now Sania can always do Bollywood, like many suggest, but let us wait for Wimbleton, ok.

Also her american accent can help in Hollywood, so why just Bollywood. She can be India first crossover star, ahead of Aishwarier who's been trying this with no success for 8 years now.

Sania blames defeat on lack of Practice
by Rajesh Vyas on Jun 02, 2007 12:31 PM

sir:

Why blame little Sania for coming up with excuses? Isn't it a character of us Indians to come with some excuse(S) or the other to explain all our problems.

SANIA IS AN INDIAN AND IT IS HER BIRTH RIGHT TO THROW UP EXCUSES WHENEVER THINGS DO NOT WORK OUT WELL.

KEEP IT UP SANIA--WIMBLEDON AND U SOPEN ARE STILL THERE. ALL THE BEST BUT COME UP WITH SOME NEW WHACKY EXTRAORDINARY EXCUSES OR JUST ADMIT I WAS NO GOOD THAT DAY!!!!!

Sania's chances in perpective
by shiva on Jun 02, 2007 07:03 AM  | Hide replies

Women's tennis has undergone a sea change during the last few years. Sania was late by ten years. None of our women in any physical sport can challenge the supremely fit, athletic pros like Venus, Serena etc. It is too much and not even worth to expect Sania to look like them physically. Don't forget, Maria was also blown away by a rejuvenated Serena in the Aussie open. Their very presence across the nets can be intimidating to even our men.

So let us be realistic. Sania, you have done as well as you can, in the circumstances. Is it worth looking like a Mueresmo at 25? While trying to improve fitness and stamina, concentrate more on strategy and learn a trick or two from Federer.

On our part, let us not hype it up. Cannot help comparing with cour national pastime (or shame?),cricket. The ads were hyping it up before WC that our heros could whup everybody. When we compare our best with the likes of Hayden, Gilchrist etc, is it not intimidating to be in the same ground with them? For all the money in the world, how many can stand near them in full flow? It is like taking on machine gun fire at close range. A full blooded shot can send anybody for a six along with with the ball. That is something like Venus or Serena in full flow, firing on all cyliders.

So Sania, there is no shame in losing to players with such professionalism and panache. So please enjoy the games and give the best. Keep trying though the contests are getting tougher. Never lose heart.

First time I saw her playing I was sure she can never be in the league of world class players. She can create a few upset here and there, but she can never reach at top.. whatever hard she can try.. In place of banking on one player to do magic, we shall look for breeding more and more players.. unfortunately, things were never good and is not looking good in future too.. we are way behind the way players are groomed in US and other places.. so don't expect much from sania and others..

We always get carried away, too fast too soon. Tennis is not like moving chess pieces. You require tremendous physical conditioning and build. No wonder, Vijay Amtritraj shifted his son Prakash to India for the little mercies he can enjoy in winning lesser tournaments.

Without any offence our women (and men) cannot match the top players in athleticism. Even Hingis knew the chances were past and called it a day when the William sisters started serving 200kmh. She called Mueresmo "half man" after a loss and she excused herself through lack of German language skill, when taken offence at her remarks.

Let us not put pressure on Sania and hope she can win the majors. If it happens, then we can pop up the champaign bottles. Let us not even keep them in stock for the time being.

Sania should become true muslim to win
by Ras on Jun 02, 2007 01:53 AM  | Hide replies

Sania should become true muslim to get the blessings of Alla and win matches. She should do 5 times Namaj and wear a veil and play tennis. Then she will get the blessings of Alla and will start defeating top players. As She is wearing tiny clothes and showing her body to every body Alla is not happy with her.

she cannot move up from her top rankings which was 32 i beleive..that was a miracle considering her fitness and serving speed !! her oppononents r going back to thier seat and having drinkings just to get rid of thier boredom of waiting for her serve to reach thier court!! she can only play in the tournmanets where top 30 players stay away.. and reach 3rd of 4 th rounds or in middle east like qatar and dubai open and pull some desperate indians crowd who r going there to watch her xtra pounds bouncing !! she is blaming the lack of match practices.. no one is forcing her to play in any tournaments with out 100 % fitness and practice. she is doing that for price money!
