She is a gifted player.. in fact we are expecting the unexpected everytime from her. She's just growing in strength now. Let us question ourselves what are the facilities we are offering? Why every time we criticize the persons who are trying hard? Try to extend moral support so that they can emerge victorius in future. Do we ever have a player in the first 50 till date? What was the citizens' contribution to her? What her family might have turmoil (financially) undergone to train her? What is the support extended to Koneru Humpy? She is still to find a regular financial assistance (sponsor); She was promised so much from the government and still to get it. Why such demeaning comments on individuals who are trying to come up on their own? Please be supportive to these people. A day will come when they will make us proud. The day is not far. We have just found the path...

There is always tomorrow, and Sania will do it.She is still in the age group. While the indivialists like Sachin,Saurav,Jaffer play for their own scores rather than the team's. so sad.

All Indians play for themselves, whether it is sports or any other vocation. We do not belong to a teamwork civilazation. Why criticize these players?

We need to set limited expectations for her game
by Rajib Paul on Jul 22, 2007 08:42 PM  | Hide replies

I think that considering the age factor and the level of competition on women tennis, she has already reached her saturation level. Though there are definitely lot of scope for improvement in her game, however there are no room for that. Her game hasn't improved much in the last couple of years. She only can decide where she wants to see herself in this game. Once she sets her goal, she can think for the possibilities. However the goal needs to be reasonable enough. The standards for the quality tennis is very very high these days and she needs to place herself accordingly.
However saying is always easy than done. But looking at her game, it doesn't looks like she is all bother to put herself in those hard work. She is not mentally tough as much required in this game. Probably, she has reached her saturation level and time has come for the viewer's of India to set limited expectations for her game. May be we can see some flashes here and there but not a fire and passion in it.

well rajib...bingo....so true that she is already over the hill...she lacks the promise she showed..the mental toughness to beat a top 10 player is just lacking..these days she is more in news for her ailments, rather than her game. sad, india has to now wait for its next teniis star !!

It is not loose or win thats as important but how you loose thats important. You played a good game and you lost, no big deal. You can win the whole thing next time.

BE REALISTIC.. FRIENDS..
by Dr Dangue on Jul 22, 2007 07:50 PM  | Hide replies

IN INDIA WHERE WOMAN SPORTS IS MUCH IGNORED... ONLY SHAHRUKH KHAN KE DO.. CHAKDE INDIA.. SO IT WOULD BE BETTER IF WE CHANGE SANIA COACH AND GIVE HIS PLACE TO SHARUKH KHAN.. MAY BE IT WORKS... !!!! WELL JOKES APART... WE ALL MUST ADMIT THAT WE R BELOW STANDARDS IN EVERY DEPARTMENT IN EVERYGAME.. N THE BLAME MUST GOTO OUR WORST SYSTEM N INFRASTRUCTURE.. IN WHICH U CANT HOPE MIRACLES THAT SPORTSPERSON LIKE STEFFI GRAFF OR PETE SAMPRASS OR ROGER FREDERRER..MAY EMERGE FROM OUR SYSTEM.... BUT WE MUST ENCROUGE IF ANY INDIVIDUAL COMES OUT OFF THE HOLE OF HIS OWN... PAES, BHAPATI AND SANIA R THE RAREST OF THE RARE IN INDIAN TENNIS.. WHO HAVE SUCCEDDED INTERNATIONAL ARENA OF THEIR OWN.. THEY DONT GET AS MUCH TRAINING FACILITIES AT THE AGE OF 10-13 AS U MAY FIND IN GERMANY, FRANCE or RUSSIA.. so just be realistic... n encourage these individuals on whatever they succceed...

hello,

at least there is some improvement. she fought well in Semis. actually a semi-final birth here is equivalent to fourth round elsewhere coz there are no third and fourth rounds here. still tht'll boost her confidence. Sania's main problem is her serve. she is very powerful and aggressive. i still feel that her father is havng a negative effect on her career. he folows her wherever she goes.

you are sounding absurd think of the williams sisters they were taken around the worls by their dad till they became champions and after that it was the sisters going all alone leave alone the divorce between their parents dont blame a parent who has cared so much for his daughter.

i think you didn't get my point. i was talking about sania's case and not making a general statement. of course Sania's parents have to be credited. also it seems that Sania's career is being managed by Mahesh Bhupathi's company and not by her father. so i got it wrong there.

not her father, but the movie & advertisement industry in india. if she had been in america/europe she would have done far, far better.

in foreign countries unless somemone wins a title or medal, they dont start endorsing products, but now she has been come a celebrity far too early and thus its severly affecting the game & mental concentration.
