Can Venus do it
by jam hangzo on Jul 06, 2007 04:32 PM  | Hide replies

Venus surprised everyone with her poor play against Akiko Moragami in the 2nd round. She was embarrasingly outplayed by the small build Japanese and she was expected to loose in the next round if not 4th round against Sharapova. She occasionally produced some brilliant shots and that was it.It was sad to see Venus play that bad as the world knows that she is the best player when she is focused, plus she is the only woman who won Wimbledon three times among the current lot.Its intresting to see her play better with each round and if she continue playing like the champion she is nothing can stop her winning the fourth time. Not even Justine Henin the world no 1,who seems to win always with luck, not through hard work. She is the best player now but most of her wins comes from gifted unforced errors from her opponent. Its a little bit hard to consider Justine Henin as the champion of champions. It will take time.Ana got the better of Nicole but winning grand slams will take at least 2 yrs.She need to be consistent on her serve and moove faster in the courts as she is sloppy at times. She needs to run faster.

jamji, you can not take any thing away from Henin's win over Serena. unforced errors are part of the game and Serena did not commit so many as one might take credit away from Henin. She will consume venus also in the finals

fedex
by jeeves samat on Jul 06, 2007 04:29 PM  | Hide replies

Fedex is a class apart; he is at least 10 notches ahead of any other player in the current circuit. I wonder if he is as good as sampras or Becker were, at their prime. There is no one good enough to even test fedex now. There is no one in the circuit today who can serve two consecutive aces, like a kevin curren or goran ivanavik. Though I wish some other champion surfaces, I do not think it will happen in the near future.

Is Federe still unbeatable

I'm big fan of federer, looking at the way he was playing Ferrero yesterday he never looked his usual self, after all grass court is his main strength. Just gives an impression that the golden era of federer is on a decline.
