Indian Hockey

I am serious follower of Hockey matches India plays. India could do much better in WorldCup or Olympic games doing just 2 things.
1. Take the last ten minutes seriously.
2. Play the first match of the tournment as though it is final and win the match whoever the opponent is. Half the things are done if you win first match.

If you come third when playing against team like AUS, HOL, GER you can proudly say INDIAN Hockey is revived but unfortunately this is not the same!

they are making an effort atleast, unlike the cricket team who is boosting their muscle against ireland, bangladesh, botswana, rwanda, nigeria, etc.

Great Job
by indiman on Jul 02, 2007 02:45 AM

This is a great job coming back in this tournament after that dissapointing losses versus Argentina and New Zealand. Congratulations to coach Joaquim Corvalho, and the Indian team in this win. There was really no threat of England beating us in this game. Yes we should have controlled possesion more but coming from the loss to Argentina credit has to be given to the Coach and Team to put that behind and play with a heavy heart against two quality opponents in Japan and England. At the international stage no team is a pushover and this is a good tournament where we won four out of six matches. Congratulations to Argentina on winning the tournament playing with ten men. That was unbeleivable. It was all because of penalty corner conversion from Joge Lombi. Hopefully Sandeep or Raghunath can be good Penalty corner specialists.

3rd is not good enough
by Ajeet Singh on Jul 01, 2007 11:39 PM

Finishing 3rd in this field is pathetic.
As usual the 2nd half performance was horrible. Why go defensive when 4-0 up. How many times have we seen Indian teams throw away games in the last 10 mins. None of our coaches know how to kill off a game by keeping possession instead of the usual panic aerials.

Hockey weakness...
by DEV on Jul 01, 2007 11:10 PM

How many years it will take India to produce world class penalty corner specialist.. and how many years it will take our boys to learn not to relax in last few minutes... What we are showing to world that Indians never learnt from their mistakes...
