A Big Mass..
by kathir mani on Feb 03, 2007 08:06 PM

If a big mass of world says that Fed is THE best ever, possibly he is! I don't think there's really point on arguing that he's not. Wat say guys!?

Federer is the all time best
by vidhya h on Jan 30, 2007 04:54 AM

I think Federer is the all time best in Tennis .I am not saying it bcoz of his record but bcoz of his shots and his game .He is so good in every aspect of the game that it makes u watch in awe of him. Sampras was great and a legend but then he was vulnerable , he lost in between and he could be beaten coz he had his off days but then Federer is great coz he has been winning every single slam again and again continuously that makes him even more great.Every legend of the game have said that he is the best ever , I think that speaks a lot .He is the god of tennis and now everyone will raise thier game to match him and thats great for the sport of tennis.

I used to be fan of Pete Sampras but now Roger is my all time favourite. He has every shot of the book and off the book. when he play tennis you are spell bound. Its not true that his competitors are not good ,problem is he is too good. If you have seen Australian open final then u will feel that fedrer opponent was playing very good game and except roger no one else can defeat him. So Roger is best of all time.I dont have any doubt on that

Greatness of player is pervasive in their simplictic approach. The way federer play's is simplay amazing, as he efforlessly outplay's his opponents. He is the best player i have seen after pete Sampras. He is the history in the making.

well I would say, Sampras is lucky he came across Federer in Grandslam very few occasion, if Sampras would have been in this era, he would have even won 2 grand slams and people wouldn't have even recogniced him. Lucky Sampras.

Hail Federer only God can beat him if he is at his best, he is a God's gift to all tennis fans.
Which should be privilaged that he belongs to our generation.

It's win at cost of Insult to race of whole India, She got sympathy votes b'cos of contravercy created by complaints of Indians whole felt uncomfortable with racist comments by low level brits, I am living in this country for 4 years now and these kind of commenets are quite common every where here,
All of my Indian friends living here have some times gone through same kind of abuse in some way,
And one need to be tough and outspoken to reply back to these kind of abuses strongly and timely, and protest immediately, Crying like shipa will only boost these kind of attackes on we people in this country, One thing shilpa shoud understood that these brits had actually humiliated Indians and she is not the only person who can decide whether these people should be forgiven, I will never forgive them, Actually this would be never contravercy if nobody would have complained and Shipa would have evicted from house quite earlier with humiliations, race assult, and she would have surely denied or forgiven these abuses same way she done now, why reason is simple MONEY, that is why she was there and now after winning sypathically she is destine to get more
Official figues are the Jade Goode who won Big Brother 4 years back, had earn $16 million since then, and she rose from nothing to millioniaor, Sure Shilpa is going to earn great fortune from this win, and sure these Brits won't mind to spend on her Untill she is keep on forgiving, Why b'cos these people got sacred b'cos of enormous complaints and international pressure, I think if she is sensible then she sould not earn profit from this contravercy, Deny all contracts here and head back home

If you talk about this is at cost of insult then if she didn't won what would you call it- 'only insult'? I do Agree that she participated to earn money and fame. But fortunatly this has opened eyes of world that still racism is in effect strongly among the people in world. And if they are provoked, they can use any shit language to make you down.
Shilpa is an actress and if she participate in any TV show, then its a move towards her career. Those people who insulted her are feeling guilty and asking for apology many times. Whole world is insulting them for their appearance. Its her achievment. She didn't represented India but she is Indian that we can not deny...

WHile we must appreciate what federer has achieved so far lets not forget that this is a different era of mens tennis where there is very little competition from other players. All the good players are struggling with either form or fitness. ON the other hand Pete Sampras had to overcome some of the toughest opponents in his time like Agassi, Goran etc. For federer the going has been easy as except Nadal no body has been up to the mark to really challenge his supremacy.

Before federrer, roddick and Hewitt etc are considered good competitors%u2026%u2026..coz most times they used to run for 5 setters running all over the ground. What happened to them now? Its not that there are no good players%u2026.well Mr.Feddy is far above them all%u2026%u2026well anyone had expected the the thrashing defeat of Roddick in semis!!!! That is the greatest thing about Feddy%u2026..and now don%u2019t say that Roddick was not in form and nor even Gonzalez!!!.......what about a match b/w Rod and Gonz.who would have won.can u guess it?? now add Feddy with those two%u2026..who would win??? That%u2019s the greatness of the player and also just because a player finishes the game without going to 5 setters doesn%u2019t mean that he is far less than superior%u2026.

Great Player ... No doubt!
Lucky One? ... mm.... mm.... not sure about that!
Federer, Fed Express, Federer the Wonder....
I think Roger Federer has proved it beyond doubt time and again ... for a long time ... He has the superhuman ability that makes him stand out among the tennis players ... it is not as though in this era we have no good tennis players ... Roddick, Hewitt, Rafa Nadal, Gonsoles, just to name a few who play power tennis. Truly, Roger Federer on the tennis court is a well oiled machine readied to give and take as good as it comes and keep scoring all the time. On those very rare, very rare occasions when he fumbles and trips against some players ... now they are the lucky ones - to win against such a legend. Today he talks about carrying on till 2012 London Olympics ... that is another five years from now. What more peaks this legend will climb to make his majestic surveys of the tennis world. Truly you can't beat this man's performance ... for a long long time! Roger!!

Granted that Federer is a great player, but comparing him to the incomparable Pistol Pete is ridiculous. Its clear from the posts here that the great souls are concerned only about records & records & more records. But there are things more captivating that sheer numbers & that is the charisma of the game. Roger Federer has a decent game but it simply isn't captivating enough to make some sit & watch his shots - something that Pistol Pete could do.
The only man in the current era who can claim to have a charismatic game is Marat Safin, who on his day (which is unfortunately few & far in between !!) can outclass Roger Federer & even his dad !!

Agreed that Roger has very little competition, that should not take credit away from him. Take him out of the game and you'll still see Nadal, Fernando Gonzalez, Roddick etc... give it a good shot and be among the top.

Pete Sampras had a great serve and would run to the net as soon as he served. His rallies were very passe and back-hand returns were two-handed. I'm sure if Federer had a go at Pete in his prime, Federer would have won hands down.
I would rank Boris Becker a better player than Pete.
