For someone who would be primarily be playing the Futures and Challengers the amount quoted (at least 1 crore) seems too high. Most futures & challengers provide accomodation to players if they make the cut. If Karan performs decent throughout the year (let's say - brings his rank up to 150 by the end of this year) he could be expected to make about 30k - 50k during the year. Add to this the support of the Indian community (especially in the US) what Karan would need ideally is a committment from one or more parties to raise about 50k - 60k during the year. If he gets to play the Davis cup even that would/should add a decent amount of remuneration to his coffers.
