Our Indian chess "reporters" never seem to understand what "reporting" means. Whenever Anand wins, it is always Anand "crushes" or "outwits" or "outclasses" (or some other flowery word) the opponent. However, the facts would be that Anand just managed to win. In fact, in this game with Carlsen, if you check serious chess web sites, you will learn that Carlsen could have easily drawn the game but he played poorly, and also Anand did not make very accurate moves. Likewise when Anand loses, either there is no report or it will be a "shocking" loss even if the opponent played well.
True, Anand is one of the all-time greats but at the top level many are closely matched and on a given day anyone can beat anyone else.
So I hope our reporters do their job of reporting facts instead of telling us that Anand is God.

Well, I agree with you that he is a 'consistent winner' sir, but of late, he has become a bit shaky. dont you think? Well, I am referring to the corus tournament, where he did not capitalise on advantageous positions on 2 occasions. Had he won those two matches, he would have won his record sixth (i am not sure whether it would have been his sixth or seventh) title. Obvoiusly, its easy for me to comment sitting here and I do realise that the situation there will be very different. But one thing I know for sure is that he IS a much stronger player than he appeared in that tournament. But anyway, he's doing a great job. He's a precious Gem of our country. Keep going ANAND, Make India proud...!!
