Congrats Shvedova
by Murali Amara on Feb 19, 2007 01:54 AM

i wud like to congratulate Shvedova on winning this satellite tournament held in bangalore. n good tht it was covered live by ZEE sports... promotion which the game badly needs.

on a serious note, it was a big waste of time watching one of the matches. tennis action in the National Games wasa lot better.

Haha!
It is a proper noun and can be spelt the way Rediff did.(and even if its a mistake, the name is too tough to spell correctly!) but are you going to get away by spelling misspelt and ridiculous wrong?! Don't be careless!

The true standing of this tournament
by Para Mesh on Feb 18, 2007 11:22 PM  | Hide replies

It is obvious from the fact that the unheralded Shvedova won the tournament which was notable for the absence of any worthwhile player from the WTA ranks that, the true value of this tournament is somewhere near the bottom of the ladder. Sania not even making it to the semis in this tournament, in turnm suggests her true standing in the women's game. Let us stop haranguaing the poor girl and let her get on with making money endorsing, modelling or whatever. After all she has only a limited time to encash on her hyped up fame.

Well said... She is only capable of putting on a lot of make up, lots of earrings and jewellery and just concentrates on maintaining her looks rather than improving her tennis.. I dont know why her small wins here and there are so much publicised by media.. She is not consistent at all.

did she ask for the hype?
this attitude is typical of armchair commentators. if someone does well pour patriotic garbage on his/her head & when the performance goes down start throwing eggs and ridicule.
