Again a BIG MOUTH talk. Will ever Sania Mirza learn to keep quiet and let her racquet do the talking?

Yes rightly said. She has to let her RACKET do the talking, not on the RAMP, nor through the ads of Hyundai and Malabar Gold. The media seems to be higlighting her glamor inspite of the fact that she has never won any major tournament

A Champion Wanted
by bharat on Feb 13, 2007 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

I hope Sania develops into a truely world class player (within the top 10 ranked players). I hope she does not fade away like some other players (eg. Ramesh Krishnan) who show tremendous promise at the junior level but fail to continue the climb to a higher level. I feel that Sania should seriously consider hiring a foreign coach who has the experience of coaching players at the highest level. Coaches do make a big difference.

Are you happy with some player just being the best amongst the Indians? Both, Ramesh Krishnan and Stefan Edberg had been Wimbledon junior champion at their times. Just see how far Stefan Edberg went and how much did Ramesh Krishnan progress. What I mean that as a Wimbledon junior champion, Ramesh Krishnan was considered to be a potential top player at the higher level. Did he progress that much. Being the best player in India is no consolation. Sania has the potential. Given the right training and opportunities, she could develop into a top world class. I would be very sad if Sania ends up as another Ramesh Krishnan.

The Title of the Article Could Have Been Better
by bharat on Feb 13, 2007 10:37 AM  | Hide replies

The title of this article gives plenty of opportunities for some crooked minded readers to write vulgar comments. The writer of this article should have been more careful in selecting the title.

Dear bharat,
What could have been the title ?
'I am in better position' would also have invited such comments.
when the mind is crooked, nothing can escape !

I dont know why so many are disappointed with Sania. Simply put in, she is the best women's tennis player India has ever produced. She has gone into a game very popular worldwide and hence very competitive. Even if she doesnt win slams or etc., she is the only Indian battling out there. I mean including mens(in singles).
For someone to do atleast that well should be great as it is a individual sport. An individual that too a woman doing it ...What are u guys moaning at? You support someone in a team game succeding once every 5 matches but not someone who is playing against all odds(country/sex/religion..).
What is your problem if she looks pretty? After all womens tennis is about Glamour too since the start. More people liked Chris Evert than Martina, more people liked Steffi than Seles...its definitely about glamour. It is an added asset.
Stop moaning and enjoy her success even if it meant her losing in the first round atleast until someother girl does better than her.

What did Karthikeyan do? He was just the first Indian in F1. But still he was THE FIRST..

When comparing to others Sania is nothing
by charles david on Feb 13, 2007 01:29 AM  | Hide replies

Still I don't know why our media giving more importance to Sania. When comparing to other international players its obvious to everyone that Sania is nothing. It seems that she may not get a Title in her life time. We can be on top in population but not in sports. Our Govt. and sports counsil are heavily responsible for this. Here the talented players are not getting any support or training from the concerned Dept. Instead see other nations, they are making expert players by giving them proper training from their childhood. But in India no such things happens. Thats why we compelled to love some other expert players like Maria Sharapova,Roger federer etc.

Excuse me charles, "you don't know" by your own admission. Then why make a judgement on matters you have no clue about and make a dumbo out of yourself ? if you don't know something either shut the hell up or ask someone who knows .Its sensible. Making illterate comments? that's dumb.

Its easy to sit out and comment; if you have guts go and perform; dont critisize some body who is not at your level

I'm a worthwhile human being. May be she could earn little more than me. As u said she is not at my level but below mine. I'm a big star in my profession (Financial Analyst)and earning by my knowledge. Sania earning little by her performance and earning more by her beauty. And fans are around her only to see her secrets and she can add fans only wearing a very short skirts not by thrilling performance.

Talk about a big ego -"she is not at my level but below mine. I'm a big star in my profession" . If you forgot let me remind you that she won three medals for India at the Doha Asian Games. (one gold two silver). She has three wins against top 10 players. Lets see how u look when u wear "very very short skirts" since u are above her level

when there millions still struggling for two meal a day, how can you expect govt to encourage sports n games. If a family barely makes ends meet do you expect them to get their child a play station???

Hi Shah,
I'm not blaming an individual Indian Star. But it is sad to see whats happening in our country. As an Indian its my greatest wishes to see our players on Top. See our population - 1 out of 5 or 6 are Indians. But in sports we're very weak. Our stars have no stamina to compete with other int'l players. U just watch our Football and compare with Champions league or English Premier League or Italian League and u will feel the difference.
U asked me what I have done in my life..I love all kind of sports but I'm not in that field..but I'm a little star in my profession (Financial Analyst - Dubai). I'm sure I have achieved a lot in my life by my knowledge and I don't like to reveal what I have done in my life to a second rate person like you. Here most of Sanias' fans discussing about her body structure and skirts. If she want to keep these fans forever she has to wear very short skirts and show little more of her secrets.
