I am surprised with the negetive reaction towards,a city I call my hometown for the last 5 years.Whatever i have is due to this city.Agreed that i am not fond of the food as a north Indian but on the whole its the best city in India. The city cater to the haves and have not.The people are not so rough and crude and they are quite educated.A lot of the people here are very orthodox and traditional but they tolerate and accept others without malice.Every place has the good and bad,the roudies and the rough and crimes do happen here too like any other place but as an outsider I can vouch for this city,it is the best in India, even the tennis courts is far superior and well maintained and the place is blessed with great weather all year round.Come and experience this beautiful place and your soul will heal. There are too much negative people out there.Life is beautiful.

Whats going on this message board? The article is about tennis and it has degenerated in to Bangalore bashing and bandhs. Please ppl. let us not squabble like this. Let us wish Sania luck and hope she wins a WTA title outside of India.

Blore is marred by
1. Poor Infrastructure......
2. Stupid ppl in govt. positions....
3. poor planning
4. bad governance
5. petty politics

There are so many IT companies in Blore. Why does nt anyone ask where does the tax money from all the IT companies go?????? if not used in Infrastructure development of Blore.

by Play World on Feb 13, 2007 12:27 AM

hey bangalore is in tamilnadu border. All borders have this clashing of cultures.Bangalore a IT HUB and now banglore to riots --- all bcz of politicians.it would have been better to have uniform spread of IT companies all over india.Bangalore is not safe place to work any more.let IT companies move out of bangalore and move to east or north india.

Bangalore remains as attractive as ever
by chandra sekar on Feb 12, 2007 08:44 PM  | Hide replies

Whatever happens on the political front(this bandh is more of a political game than anything else) does not seem to affect the popularity of Namma Bengaluru for hi tech investment. I hope it remains so because Bangalore is undoubtedly the IT capital and no other city (including my own city Chennai) can even reach 50% of what Bangalore has achieved.

Sorry brother Bangalore?? Attractive?? not anymore. Unfortunately the once scenic and beautiful city is turning out to be the most congested, polluted and costly city in India. Also it has a victim of vicious politics. On the other hand cities like Hyderabad / Chandigarh etc are much better off and more preffered IT hubs of India now. Time to shift your base i suppose??

Cheers!!!

Well said BR; Rallabhandi, Bangalore is accepted globally. We dont need to advertise our plus points and get publicity. Instead, there could be few minus points in Bangalore, let us work on them and get rid of those minus points.

by Shankaracharya on Feb 12, 2007 07:27 PM  | Hide replies

I hope this incident gets as much publicity on Indian TV. Also, I hope Karnataka, organizes more such Bandhs, burn their own buses, stone their own city, indulge in violence on highways, railway stations, Airports. Also, the long jinxed Bangalore International Airpoty ought to be attached also. Shame on you guys. The International Airport was on the drawing board in 1999-2000. It is now projected to come up in 2010(government estimates). Compared to Hyderabad International Airport, where the first flight is expected to land in Sept 2008. The prject has been started in 2005! I support the bandhs whole hearteldy. Jai Karnataka and may the neighbouring states develop more!!

If you dont understand the history of the conflict and the flaws in the court verdit ... keep ur comments to yourself. Oh if you are living in bangalore or working here..guess you wont mind paying Tamil nadu to pump water back to your house for comsummation on a daily basis.. and you wont mind supporting a few farmer families too. and if a bundh doesnot open eyes... suggest another means as effective..

Guys, this reply is for your comments mentioning 'Karnataka Jana Goonda Samajams'. I dont know how you arrived at this word as I believe there is no word called 'Samajams' in Kannada. Anyway, for those who call Kannadigas as Goondas, I wish to mention abt an incident - Few months back there was some orchestra arranged for IBM guys in B'lore. Sonu Nigam was part of it, and when he was willing to sing some songs in Kannada, there were objections from IBM employees!!! They wanted him to sing Tamil/Telugu songs but not Kannada. What do you say for this? You want to be in a state, you want all benefits/Good positions over there but you dont want to respect the culture and language of the state? The same you try to do in TN/AP - People will thrash you. In Bangalore you enjoy your rights (Something similar to being in your own place) and call the local people goondas? I dont support Goondaism/Violence during Bandh, but it is very bad and wrong to give such a name for people of Karnataka who has given such a good cosmopoliton place to India...Just guess guys..if Kannadigas were real goondas as u mention, it would have not been possible to build the IT hub of India.. For your information, The ratio of Kannadigas and other people in Bangalore is 30:70...In which cities Hyderabad/Chennai/.. you see this? Was this possible, if we were Goondas?

Ask IT companies to move to your posh garden. At first place they selected bangalore after studying North and and north east cultures.

At the end of the day, we all r indians and Karantaka's loss is a loss to India..If the industry is closed, it is a bad reputation to India..Instead of thinking this way u guys feel secured that 'It is Karnataks headache..I m not frm Karnataka..Y should I bother?'.
