Over a span of half a century India has produced only half a dozen players of note and they have all come up through their own efforts and not due to any constructive work of the AITF. With one family controlling the affairs for more than 30 years and given the ego and politics that are rife in the running of any sports body, not to say the deleterious effects of the parasitic political class' involvement of sports affairs, this is par for the course.Bhupathi, Mankad or Bopanna owe nothing to Sinha and Khanna that they should strive to pull India forward in the pecking order so that the winnings can benefit the nincompoops that run the game. It is only when India slip back into the Group II category and the camouflage provided by the odd good showing from Bhupathi,Paes et al becomes a thing of the past that there is any scope for some improvement. the current lot should be shown the door and the players and well wishers should take over running the game; no doubt an utopian ideal but there is no harm in dreaming
